I noticed that there is a few threads talking about HID conversions on the MDX. Does the MDX headlight have a euro beam pattern? I currently drive a Lexus GS300 w/out HID and a Honda S2000 with HID and both have euro beam pattern.

Just curious cause I'm picking up my MDX which is replacing the GS and one of the things I loved about the GS is the euro headlight beam pattern. Even though it's not HID, the reflective pattern is good enough that HID lights are not necessary.

I'm hoping the MDX headlights are just as good. I really don't want to do a HID conversion if not necessary.

Ok, you got me....what in heck is considered Euro beam pattern?

Thanks in advance for the education :D
Europe has a standard headlight pattern that is much better than the US standard.

The US standard basically reflects a blob of light on the ground in front of the car. The European standard is a defined pattern that has a sharp cutoff to the left to prevent blinding of oncoming traffic which allows a more direct/brighter light. This is the reason people complain about HID lighting because they are brighter if you are looking at the headlight directly but if you are looking at the light outside of the sharp cutoff, the light is not bright at all..

When looking out the windshield of my HID Honda S2000 and Lexus GS300 the pattern looks like this:

............../'''''''''''''''

I know that the current generation Accords which are not HID do not have this pattern and the lighting is not very good.

You'll definitely know the difference if you sat in a car with this headlight pattern.
