What makes you think that the wait is longer in Bay Area than NY? From what I could learn from the forum, Bay Area is a much better place than NY to buy it. Try to look harder, and you will find what you need here.
I don't recall a post w/a courtesy delivery to Hopkins. That mighta been the dealership Tim @ Ray Laks (NY) used to do some part swapping/warranty stuff for a customer.
In any case, based on the posts I remember, NY ain't the quickest (upstate potentially, but definitely not NYC area).
As GCK says, I'd recommend dialing away -- start w/SoCal then do Florida. The southeast appears to have decent availability.
There was a post in the dealer ratings for Hopkins Acura where the member had a praise for Hopkins Acura for delivering a vehicle. jdinesh is probably referring to that post.
As you mentioned, I know for fact that you could get a vehicle in either N. Cal or S. Cal within 3 months now.
Speaking from here in Long Island, New York it is definately not a short waiting list unless you want to pay $2000-$3000 over MSRP. The dealers are the epitome of greed and I can't wait till the demand slows down and people remember how they were treated.
