I use them all the time, amazing especially compared to lesser bladder based systems. I run them on the mixed full back profile called zen. The default is useless

After a horrible red eye, my desire/need for massaging seats is at a new high. For you Type S advance owners, are the seats what YouTube reviews say they are?
As someone coming from never having a massage function in their vehicle I can tell you that it’s a very nice option, I also use the Zen mode which does your whole back and butt

I’ve never had massage seats before. I have a thoroughly worn out back. I’ll sometimes drive as much as 15 hours, commonly 5-10. The massage seats do help. I use them intermittently. I don’t use them around town.

Well, where should I start, I switched from Advance to Type S for air suspension, I really wanted white but red leather didn't work for me so went to type S Advance (Black or Grey chose black), at first found a massage seat a selling gimmick air suspension was the must to eliminate a stiffer ride from Advance, didn't use massage option till a week into it and I went for 300 km Ride to go skiing
OMG
I turn Massage seats on and I was shocked how good dear are , My wife's last car massage sucks (GLE she hated that car )comparing to those that's why I thought this was a joke and now that I used it , as soon as I go in, the massage button is pressed the only disappointment I have it turns off after 20 or 30 min. Screw the air suspension , well not really this think can be soft in comfort and not boaty and stiff in sports plus but not beating you up but now you add the massage and this thing is a dream, I think I use the massage on the way to the massage too its the best on the market in a $120,000 and below vehicle price tag and with the air suspension and SH-AWD its worth every penny its worth $10,000 upgrade from Advance , OK
I'm in love with this SUV and do not care about engine but its a nice addition, I was OK with 3.5 All I wanted was comfort , now I have luxury of AMG with a bit of less power but way more comfort ,

BTW what was the question, ohh.. massage seats are they worth it?. on MDX yes on anything else is a gimmick ;)

I just wanted to reply to the comment about bladder based systems. From what I saw on YouTube, I thought the MDX uses like balls or something like that, similar to what you see in massage chairs. However, I saw the MDX Newsroom talking about that feature and here is what they said: "MDX Type S with Advance Package also features the first massaging front seats ever in an Acura vehicle. Featuring nine different massage modes, each with three levels of intensity, the seats use a series of air bladders in the seat back and bottom cushion to provide a stress-relieving and revitalizing massage experience for the driver and front passenger. " So, it seems that they also use air bladder for their massage seats. Having said that, it seems from what I read that the massage seats are really good. I don't have MDX yet, but I'm thinking seriously about it.

Some are better than others...

I have seen other reviews praising the massaging seats in the Aviator for example, but knocking the ones in the X7 as "weak"

It's all about how it's implemented.

Acura actually got it right, they really do "massage"!

Just someone spouting wrong information in the thing you quoted.

Yes the massage is actuated by air pressure (that's the only way that's reliable and cost effective to do this) the air actuates pistons that press into your back.

Inferior bladder based systems literally just have an air bladder under the upholstery that inflates and deflates. Feels nothing like the type s advance massage seats.

I have had the massaging seats in a couple of Ford F-150s and an Explorer and I thought they were very nice to have and really helped a lot on long trips helping to avoid unnecessary stops to work out the kinks from sitting in one place for so long.

With that said, the seats in the Acura are, in my opinion, a bit better than those in the Fords. On high, they are a bit more noticeable than the Ford’s.

As far as I can tell, they both use air bladders to accomplish this, so I believe that @aboujeyab’s statement is correct.

I use it every time I drive and HATE driving my Audi that doesn’t have them. Multiple massage settings gets the right feel you need. Add some heat from the seat and a sore back quickly feels better. Only wish they went up to the top of neck! One of the best surprise options I didn’t think about when I bought it.
