Went out to start the car yesterday on a very cold morning. Car started. I ran back inside and looked out the window a couple minutes later an my 2001 X with 233k had puked out about a quart of oil all over the driveway. Turned the car off as soon as it was noticed. Oil was leaking from front of engine down past the oil filter. Could not see any signs of the leak from the top of the motor. Checked to see if there were any codes thrown and the reader showed none. The check engine light did not come on. Anybody have an idea what might have broke to allow such a fast drain?

In extreme cold weather well below zero, I have seen oil push past the sealing ring on the filter. Recommend you get the vehicle into a warmer area if possible, or at least warm up the filter well with a hair dryer or a high wattage halogen work light. See if this eliminates the problem.
