Maintenance Cost Comparison

Hi, I think that it would be a good idea if we could compare maintenance cost with each other. I have always maintained my vehicle with Brunwick Acura of NJ and my costs with tax are as follow...

7500miles - $175.54
15000 miles - $176.61
Oil Change - $28.86
22500 miles - $155.20

Is it just me or are these costs a bit excessive. Thanks guys.

MDXSEXC,
I have check around for the following prices of the 7,500 mile service in the Chicago Suburbs:

Continental - $99
Joe Rizza - $135
McGrath - $178

Big spread in prices which makes shopping around a good idea. However, I have not owned an Acura before so I have no experience with any of these dealers so I can provide no information on service quality which has to also be considered. Based upon these prices you appear to be paying at the upper end. Another point of reference, I just got an oil change at a local place for my Subaru with synthetic oil and it was $38.
Thanks for your reply. I kept on going to just that one dealer because the place is just 2 mins away from home so.... However, I think that you are right about checking around. Thx
Falconi's Acura - Las Vegas

Here is Las Vegas, there is only one authorized dealer and they charge $100 for a minor service (7,500 mile service) and it included the VTM fluid.

Hope the info helps.
I just had my 22500 service. Cost was $81. Of course this was not at the dealership. Anyone in the No. Virginia suburbs of D.C. should look up A.I.M. Auto Service in Fairfax. They are a Korean owned business who specialize in Lexus and Acura among other Japanese cars.

Sorry, but you are paying too much. At 7,500 miles all you need is an oil change. Any other "inspections & checks" should be covered by the 30 point inspection included with the oil change. Don't pay for anything else unless you need tire rotation & balance. VTM fluid change is required every 15k miles and that should cost around $70-90.
Several other threads here seemed to come to the same conclusion about periodic servicing. Instead of telling the service manager you want the '15000 mile service', give him the expanded list from the owner's manual for that same service. It will generally cost less. Go figure.
And don't fall prey to servicing your car to the anything but the 'normal' servicing interval. Almost all MDX's fall into that category. The general rule seems to be: "Give the dealer an inch, and he'll take your wallet."
7500 miles $46.63 (includes a $20 dollar discount for waiting longer than promised, so it would have been $66.63) Precision Acura of Princeton. Oil Change/Tire Rotation.
Those of us with 01 and 02 had a different maintenance schedule. Our 7500 included VTM oil change. I think I paid $150, which is too high, but it was more than oil change and rotate tires.:)

Niles
The garage that I got my 15K and 22.5K service told me that VTM change is not necessary until 30K miles. Could this be true?
Depends on your year. What does your owner's manual say?:8:

May I respectfully disagree? I consider it good practice to use the Severe schedule, not "falling prey." YMMV
