If anything use rare earth magnets.

They will have the magnetic pull to keep particles from flowing through your filter.

I know some engine builders that use a particular brand inside the engine to capture any loose particles.

They will still have little/no effect. The oil filter housing is steel. The magnetic field within the filter is largely negated by the housing. On top of that, magnets only attract ferrous materials (such as steel/iron). Common wear materials are silica (dirt/dust), silicone (gaskets), copper (bearings), and other things that are mostly non-ferrous.

If you really want a magnet, get a magnetic drain plug.

Magnet doesn't attract stainless steel. Are the pistons, bores and etc make out of stainless steel?

In the J37 the bore is aluminum. I assume the pistons are, as well.
