Curious to see if anyone installed the Low Jack Recovery system? I think it is only offered at auto dealers.

Lo-JACK

Hello MDXROCKS-

The Lo-Jack recovery system is an excellent investment if you work with a dealer or reseller that knows about Lo-Jack and is a high volume Lo-Jack dealer.

Am pretty sure you already know how the system works. You have the Lo-Jack "blackbox" installed and when your car is stolen you contact Lo-Jack and they will in turn contact the local authorities, i.e. sheriffs, police to track the car for you from their mobile computer systems that they have in their cruisers, motorcycles and trucks.

This system is VERY effective, 99 percent recovery.
Recovery or not?

Be careful in your thoughts about the lo-jack system. I was going to purchase seriously but decided not to purchase until the use a satellite system to recover. They are in the ninety percent recovery but only in a city or small area. I live on ling island and the recovery is less than 50% but in NYC they are close to 95%. The main problem is when your car is stolen, the tracking is from a tranmitter in the stolen car to the police car. The range is about 2 miles. in cities they recover high amounts but on the island they have little recovery due to the fact the transmitter isn't strong enough to reach the police car. Lo-jack is working on a satellite system which will track from anywhere and no distance restraints. I would wait for the improvement. I decided that a high end alarm like clifford was a good investment. It also gives the autostart feature and many others like unlocks when shut ignition, locks autmaticallay at 25 mph. check it out pretty cool.

Thanks. I will probably wait and check out some other options such as the clifford alarm. The dealer wanted something like $600 for the low jack system. Seems like a lot of $$$.
HI..

I GOT MY MDX WITH LO-JACK..

AND I PAID LIKE 550 FOR IT...

THE THING IS.. I AM INSURED WITH AAA..

AND THEY DO GIVE A 5% LO-JACK DISCOUNT..

SO THE FIRST YEAR.. IT PAYS FOR ITSELF..

AND AFTER THAT... I SAVE MONEY EVERY YEAR..

SO EVEN IF LO JACK DON'T WROK.. I STILL SAVE MONEY..

SO.. CHECK IT OUT WITH YOUR INSURENCE COPANY

^__^

Also save with the clifford system

as long as the alarm is passive active you receive an insurance discount. lo-jack gives a similiar savings
TYP, you pay over $10,000 a year for insurance on your MDX?
It's probably not 5% off of the whole insurance bill either - probably 5% off of comprehensive?
HI..

For my insurence.. I pay around 2000 for 4 cars, and full coverage on 3 of them..

Lo-jack and alarm are 2 different discount off my insurence.

I am not sure about any other state's policy.. but I am here in LA..

Where it's more dangerous to drive.. so...

TYP
you pay 2K for 4 cars (3 full ) and sayin' drivin' in LA is dangerous ?????
a bargain at any price........

2K for 4 cars? Now THAT's a bargain! $1400 for a 43 y.o., (1) vehicle guy with a spotless driving record AND multiple discounts.........  :(
Digital Angel

Don't know about lo-jack, but there is a product out for tracking kids and old people found at www.digitalangel.net.

You just place the watch and transmitter on the kid, and you can track where it is?

Couldn't one hide this in the car somewhere and do the same thing? I think it's $299 and then $29/month for service.

Just a thought...

How about $990/year for 26 y.o. male, 25 y.o female and 3 cars. 2 with full coverage. Progressive rocks!
Hard To Compare Rates

It is difficult to compare insurance rates because it depends highly on the state you live and even the county you live in. If you are in a high crime area it is higher. There are so many contributing factors you can't really compare like they ways you guys are. In New York State I'm at about $1200 for the MDX and $1000 a year for a 2000 maxima, and prefect driving record, multiple discounts, passive alarms, safety defesive driving course, married over 30. I tend to like to deal with Allstate. That's full coverage with glass and a $500 deductable. If you get picky they are factors such as the amounts of liability and unisured motorist coverage and car rental reimbursement!!!:D
$2000 for MDX in NYC from Allstate. Been driving accident free for 11 years. NYC's got to be the most expensive in the country.
