looking at a 2020 MDX- Questions

I am looking at trading in my 2019 Silverado for a 2020 MDX with 16000 miles. After reading some posts on this page it seems like there are a lot of issues with the MDX. I like the size over the Lexus 350. Is it common to have issues with the MDX. I wanted a Honda/Acura because I have always heard that they run forever. Any suggestions on what I should look for when MDX shopping?

We have a 2020 AWD Advance and LOVE it. Trouble free and enjoyable. I’ve forgotten a lot of the differences with trims, but would be happy to answer any questions about this one.

Ive heard people diss the 9-spd transmission, but I believe they have ironed out the issues. Mine is butter smooth both up and down the gears. I’ve been really impressed at its smooth behavior and the mileage it’s helped achieve—high 20s on the highway.

Keep in mind that people come to forums to complain. And they usually outnumber happy people 10 to 1. Use complaints as resources, but don’t assume it’s normal.

Good luck!
Same here …. Also a 2020 AWD Advance owner and have had no issues after 28K miles. It’s never been back the dealer. I do all the maintenance myself. Getting 23.8 mpg overall so far for those 28K miles and also in the high 20s on the open road.
And no issues here with the ZF 9 spd tranny. It’s been flawless. It shifts better than my 15 Accord V6 2 dr coupe 6 spd AT. Honda/Acura updated the ZF9 for 19/20 model years.

We have a 2500 Denali Crew cab (2015) and a 2019 MDX hybrid advanced. The denali has a noticeably quieter interior, better road noise isolation and less wind noise, The MDX is better than the majority of Honda/Acura vehicles we've ridden in and is quiet enough. Seat comfort they are comparable and the rear seats in the hybrid advance with captains chairs are as comfortable as the rear seats in the denali. The Denali was our long distance cruiser, but now it's the MDX. IMHO the dash and controls for most items like audio, seat heaters, climate control etc. are better on the Denali. MDX requires taking eyes off the road more than the denali which by now I seldom need to do. MDX wins hands down on handling and for MOST snow rain conditions vs. the part time Four Wheel drive. And the MDX has a far better traction control system. Part may be due to the hybrid with complete individual control to the rear wheels.

Denali is now our trailer tow vehicle, big loads etc. MDX our most often driven vehicle. Course the MDX hybrid wins on economy, 26-28 in town, 28 on the highway

We have had several Acuras going all the way back to 86 Legend. Currently have 2016 & 2017 MDXs with 50k & 127k respectively. Only standard wear items, including struts
around 50k each. Planning to ride them out for several more years due to recent price hikes and cheap resale values by Dallas dealers. Definitely not planning on purchasing
any evs nor hybrids. Staying with fwd only. Would try another Lexus if they could improve ride and move away from floating uncontrolled mushiness. Has anyone tried selling
a vehicle with the services like retailmyride.com?
I have had Acura's over 20 years and love them. Good value for the $$. I have had 3 MDX 's 2003,2010, and 2020 the only reason to trad was to upgrade them. All ran great with no issues! The 2020 has 15,K miles and runs great. Never regreted buying an Acura but did regret buying a Toyota Camry Hybrid one time but went back to a 2017 RLX and had several RLX's also a great car. Buy the 2020 you will be happy!

Well I have had for about a month it’s great really only getting a handle on all the tec settings make sure you get the manual with it mine was missing so was getting agrivated with that .Seams to scratch easily with the dark color I have I prefer white cars .seats a little firm but only have 18000 .some Honda dealerships don’t work on them. But not a problem.

Excellent, thoughtful analysis of the 2020 MDX.
I have a basic 2020 MDX/Tech AWD and your observations are spot on.
While I don’t have a hybrid, I have consistently gotten shockingly great MPG with cautious driving. (recent Chgo-DC and back at 80mph = 24mpg, while on suburban Chicago interstate driving, I consistently get 29 mpg with a personal best at 65 mph = 32 mpg (I took a picture of it).
Happy motoring
