Lets get this straight...this is no truck.

Well, who else finds the reference to the MDX as a "truck" to be awkward?

What definition of "truck" would fit the MDX?

It certainly has no pickup bed.

It does not haul a semi trailer.

It has no independent chassis.

I know a few posters, whom I respect, calling it a truck- and it just strikes me funny.

Comments?

Just MHO,

Well the problem is what else would you refer to it as... vehicle is way too long to have to keep typing, it's definately not a car... should we say SUV... or SAV...

I know it's not a minivan :)

Truck'll have to do.

Regards.

Truck sounds more masculine. I wouldn't say it's a truck by typical truck definitions, but it ain't a dainty little car, and truck is one syllable versus three for SUV which is overused.

Of course, I'm guilty of calling it a truck. Sometimes I do it just to bother the wife, cuz she drives it, and doesn't want to be thought of as driving a truck.
Well when Honda releases its monthly sales reports it lists 2 categories. Cars and light trucks. In the automotive industry the word light truck indicates SUV's, Minivans and trucks. I hate it when car companies come up with these stupid names for new automobiles. Like BMW and there SAV= Sport Activity Vechile. Whatever there BMW, the X5 is an SUV or a light truck, period.

Thanks
Evan
A rose by any other name....

Well...technically it IS Motor Trend's SUV of the year. I call it a truck and/or car depending on whether I'm mad at it or not, i.e., WHERE IS my damn truck? That kind of thing...but I agree it isn't a car.

When I get it, it will become my MDX or my baby. It will also be known as Mom's. As in "Let's take Mom's."

But while we're on names...what is it with you guys and THE wife? Used to be "MY Girlfriend...right??...she was never THE girlfriend." Why not MY wife? You don't refer to your MDX as THE MDX...you're proud...you claim ownership. It's MY MDX AAArrruugggaahhh. Almost every one of you do that... Now don't be erasing those posts!!! You know who you are! So repeat after me...I love my MDX...I love my wife. And again... Now all your wives will be happy and you won't be calling it your CONDO. Yea! :)

Where's psychdr?

Funny...I picked up some drycleaning this evening and the nice woman who handed me my stack of shirts said, "What do you call this thing?" Unfortunately, she couldn't decide if it was "a minivan or an SUV."

That got me to thinking what I should call it. My neighbor came over the other day and said "nice new truck!" which made me feel good 'cuz I've never owned anything macho enough to be called a truck. Last weekend when I hauled 240 pounds of landscaping soil and pine mulch and five rose bushes (without having any problem seeing the back window and plenty of room to spare) it sure felt like a truck. On the other hand, it feels more like a car to me, emotionally.

I know one thing--it will keep me from ever having to drive a minivan, though!
MDX

I call mine an MDX:D

I don't care for truck:(, absolutely not a minivan:mad:
Car or SUV works for me:), but MDX is no harder to say than SUV:D
I'd never call mine a truck, I see too many trucks up here.

My kids will call it a minivan to get my goat, but they usually call it the "Acura", as it "Let's take the Acura again!" (My 4 -yr old calls our Outback the "Back Out car") :)

I guess we call it a car, as in "What, you're going to wash that car again, you washed it yesterday!" :D

Not a truck, no way.

I live in Chicago and have eupehemized it to "the" wife for the purposes of communicating to the forum, but in reality the correct area term is "Da" wife as in "Da Bears" and "Da Bulls." Just like your handle would be "Da"Mor instead of "DMor".

Our MDX is Max

"My lovely wife" and I call it "Max".
Come on, admit it you've all had your own vehicle endearments to your previous rides.
The Bomb, Old Blue, The Truckster, Pearl, The piece of s##t, etc., etc.
Max suits our MDX, as in;
"I think I left my sunglasses in Max",
"Did you put Max in the garage?"
"What CD's are in Max?"
To the public at large we call it an SUV. Which is fine because usually by the time
you've got that far into it you've told them all about Acura, MDX's, the LuxoSUV market
and the competion in the price range. You know the drill.
Max is cool, We dig Max.

Ghost - that's funny about your Subaru!

My 3 year old has taken to calling it the akka-RA.

Sorry I promise to keep the kid gushing to a minimum in my posts.
SUV/minivan hybrid

which is why it is has the Utility part of SUV.
It's also based on some Honda Odyssey components so you can't say it's not one bit a minivan ;-)

Just call it a logical evolution SUV.
Just don't call it ...

.. a station wagon and I'll agree with about anything else!
Re: Just don't call it ...

It is not a minivan

And what about all that guff I was getting a few weeks ago about calling mine Nuvvie. Where are you hecklers now? BTW, Nuvvie came about because the license plate we were issued starts with NVE- so the kids started calling the MDX, Nuvvie the Suvvie. BTW2, personalized plates are on the way so the kids may be disappointed.
Oh...hecklers are here...some still without MDX's...but here, nonetheless. You do get bonus points for posting "Nuvvie the Suvvie" twice. You're personalized plate wouldn't be "OLDGOLD" would it?

Oh Man!
I asked for that didn't I?

The choices for vanity plates were:
1. ACURAMDX - not very original but kinda cool
2. VROOMMDX - VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
3. OAKISMDX - for Oak Island, NC

Excuse me now, it's time for OLDGOLD's nap

Max Rules!!!!

I agree!
Multiple points for two Nuvvie the Suvvie entries!!!
All you "soon-to-be owners" are probably trying out
pet names for your new MDXs in your heads all the time.
Admit it!

Max Rules!
