Hello. We are presently shopping for an SUV and find nothing that drives as well as the MDX for the money, not to mention other positive points.

Are there any recurrent problems that any of you 2002 owners may have noticed but not posted here? (It appears that most posts are for 2001 autos and the ones that caught my eye were a "howling" which was thought to come from the frame not being filled with foam, I believe), problems with the Nav or trip computer, and sloshing in the gas tank.) I had read a review that talked about the headlights and that the driver was concerned that he was outdriving them at 60 mph. Our local dealership has no MDX's for test driving, unfortunately, so I cannot check it out.

Thanks

kdkrone,

I just got my MDX about 3 weeks ago and I love it. I have put 1500 miles on it and I have noticed minor sloshing in the gas tank, but only when backing out of the garage and only when there is about 3/4 tank of gas, other than that I don't hear it.

I haven't heard any howling coming from the A-frame, but we have heard noise from the roof rack. It was very minor (had to turn the radio completly off to hear it) and we were driving 85 with a very strong head wing (approx. 30 mph). I don't expect to ever drive in that much wind again.

The trip computer/nav has been flawless.

Known problems

I actually received my MDX last month, and although I was looking foward to testing it during the snowy season, we were blessed with very little snow. So far the car's performance is excellent. The pick up is great and no leaky mirrors. Hopefully, I won't have anything to report in the near future! Good luck and tell us about your new car when you get it.

V-tech

The problem that i keep coming up with is just the v-tech sounds really good, too good. I work real late and when I get off I can't help but push it just to hear the v-tech. Call me a speed demon but that's why I bought it. My other car is a moded out prelude, so i had to get something that could give me performance. Well i have no problems so far but then it's only been 5 days.

I don't want to sound anal, but this is a recurring issue on the other forum I frequent. It is VTEC not V-tech, thats a company that makes cordless phones.

anyway I can't wait to hear that as soon as my X comes in,sigh.

I got mine two weeks ago. I just can't stop to drive it everyday. If I didn't drive to work in the morning, then I will try to drive it out after dinner time.

so far, there is no problem with it, except it drinks too much gas. well, I did expect that before I buy it. :D

I am sure everyone loves this SUV.

I feel guilty nitpicking about such a near-flawless vehicle but in the interest of fairness I have to say that the gas overflow problem is worth mentioning. I filled up the other day (without topping off) and when I removed the nozzle I had fuel pouring out behind the wheel well, exiting where the rear splash guard is attached. Here's one of a couple of threads describing the problem which is common with both 2001 and 2002 model years:

Other than this the only problem I've had is trying not to drag race everyone at stoplights...

I really am having problems

I own the mdx for 6 months. It handels great (no snow ) but, I get 12 miles per gallon, I can't get the heater to be constant, my navigational system suddenly tells me to recalculate on the middle of the highway and my SRS needed to be replaced.

Anyone interested in taking over the lease
