Some ******* (Edited by Acura4Life) just keyed my MDX in the parking deck where I work. Three big, deep scratches along the driver and rear driverside doors. Down to the primer. Both doors have to be painted.
Why do people do that? What possible benefit did this ******* (Edited by Acura4Life) hope to gain?
In this time of national crisis and unity don't people have more important things to worry about?

Does the place you work have cameras watching the parking lot? Mine does but it only gets the first row of cars. Good luck in catching the person and sorry to hear about that. It takes all kinds of people. They are probably jealous of such a beautiful vehicle.

I feel your pain, Feng.....it has happened to me in the past.

The sick thing is since it happened where you work, the idiot could still be there. Hope your MDX (and you!) makes it thru this.

Hi Feng,

Sorry to hear about your 'DX being keyed. So many times I want to guess whether it is the malicious act of a kid or an adult?!?

I just wonder of the insurance covers it or not (assuming you have a small deductible). Please let us know how much it costs to repair the damage.

Feng,

That hurts. That just isn't right. What a bummer. You've got to wonder what goes through some people's heads...

Please do pass on how much it ends up costing you, and if your insurance covers any of it.

Good luck,
Rob

The estimate is $460 to repaint the driver and rear driver-side doors. I have good insurance, the deductible is only $100 for this kind of thing. Also, I get a rental car for the 3 to 4 days it will take to repaint. It's not the money though... now I will have paintwork on a brand new car. I ******* (Edited by Acura4Life) hate paint work. The best body shop in the world can never match a factory finish for color or quality (I've had plenty of body/paint work in the past).

What has the ******* (Edited by Acura4Life) who did this accomplished? He probably drives some piece of **** (Edited by Acura4Life) full of dents and scratches. I just really don't understand people in this world. When I see a nice car I think... "what a nice car". I NEVER think "what an ******* (Edited by Acura4Life) who owns this nice car".

No cameras in my lot. Police filed a report (whatever good that does). I sat up all night thinking about parking the car in exactly the same spot then hiding and watching for any suspicious characters. Then I finally thought to myself... there are plenty more important things in this world. Someone has to be mature in this situation.

Feng, to say nothing of the time you waste getting estimates, getting it repaired, etc. My deductible is $500 bucks.....so that is what it would cost me out-of-pocket for nutcase car terrorists like that.

I parked far away from the maddening crowds this AM in my parking lot.

LOL Oct., I did the same thing, thinking of Feng's experience. Of course, any idiot could just as easily and maybe even more discretely walk out there and scratch it up...

Maybe a new accessory should be a video camera on the inside of the car that captures a 360 degree view out the windows to catch these twerps.

FengMD,

Not that it should matter, but was someone you work with mad at you for some stupid reason? :( I know it shouldn't make a differece if they were or not it doesn't make it right. I don't know why people don't leave other peoples property alone. When we are in a parking lot I make sure my kids know not to touch anyone elses car no matter how dinged up or rusted out it is. It's just wrong to mess with something that is not yours.

I hope your paint job looks good as new. I know you haven't been happy in the past, but maybe this time you will be :) . There's always a first.

Hi Feng

Sorry to hear about your car.

Do you park in the physician's parking lot? Just asking. Some folks resent doctors for their income potential, etc. Basically envy, but this time it sounds like it could be destructive envy?

My Dad had a brand new Lexus and parked it outside of his building. It was keyed multiple times. Really sad. They never caught the person. As soon as he'd get it repaired, it was keyed within a few months. They started from the headlights and ran all the way back to the taillights. He finally drove it for several months before getting it repaired. Then after a couple of years of being keyed at random...it stopped.

Have you considered a car cover? That might help? All the best in your repair.

Thanks for all the condolences folks. The parking deck is for all staff and employees of the hospital. Because I get to work much earlier than the rest of the employees, I always get the nice end spot near the exit. I guess it was just too high profile for the rest of the people who get there later. Suffice it to say... I park in the back corner and walk the extra distance now!

I hate to say it, but sometimes that'swhat you gotta do. I thought I was just protecting myself from dings, but I guess keyings too.

A buddy of mine recently went to the movies and parked in the back of the lot. When he came out (it was at night), his car and one other car a row away had been broken into, and his stereo taken. He said that it was dark in the section (only area left) and he saw a car with several guys in it. He figured they were just waiting for their movie to start and didn't want to hang out in the lobby. I guess we've just got to be on guard...

Sorry to hear about.....

Sorry this happened to you, I feel your disgust with these types of mindless malicious acts. I guess they are acting up due to the lack of ??????? Use your imagination. LOL. Unfortunately this things happen, and believe me I know since someone vandalized our MDX in front of our house leaving a huge long dent on the rear pillars by the rear liftgate windshield, at least they did not break the rear windshield. Paid $ 550 to fix the dent and repaint and I had them paint the rear deflector for about $ 150. This shop by the way did exceptional work, color matched the paint exactly, even the dealer said they could not tell that it had been repaired and repainted. This shop by the way does most of the show cars in the SFO Bay Area, so I knew I was in good hands plus they have done most of my friends cars and they also did the last body work and paint work on our other car. You might want to really ask around for good body shops in your area. I had the advantage of being around the Import car show scenes so I had it easy.

Xtreme,

Do you mind sharing the name and address of the shop for the SF Bay Area MDXers? Thanks.

sometimes parking far away doesn't work either. my wife drove the MDX to work the 2nd or 3 wk we got it. She parked in the back of the lot(which actually faces a major road). but when she came home i was horrified to see a 8 inch long scratch in the Lt. rear door. i hadn't gotten it fixed yet. i am hoping a good wax job MIGHT take it out.

Extremely frustrating to say the least:mad:

btw, FENG what kind of physician are you?

Radiologist. Maybe I should X-ray my door panels to fully assess the damage!

I'm dropping my MDX at the body shop today. I fully researched the matter, and found a cosmetic repair center that I'm comfortable with. Everybody wish me luck on this one!
