Same with me..

They originally gave me a March delivery date when I placed my deposit back on October. When I called mid January, they gave me my build date (1/31 - 2/04). I picked the car up on 2/16. That's a whole month earlier than original date. True waiting now starts, now that you're only counting days rather than months. Order stuff now to keep you sane. Make sure that if you are planning on ordering items that are "Group Sale" special, to order now. It ends tomorrow (I think). Those are Rear Tailgate Deflector, Front Air Deflector, etc. Also Tim's February special (Burlwood Shiftknob).

How long did you wait?

swhtech -

I was at Herb Connolly Acura this morning to test drive an MDX and I was told it would take around 10 months to get a new one in! When did you order and how long did it really take? Were you satisfied with Claire and the salesperson?

BTW - It was a GREAT drive! I felt like pushing the dealer out the car and just driving it home ;) But 10 MONTHS seems like forever, especially since the A/C on my Jeep GC is shot and the idea of going through another summer with it is depressing.

Perhaps the fact that I went by myself and the dealers first words were "I thought you were going to bring your husband" should have been a clue that I was wasting my time  It will be MY car and I'm the one who's been lurking around this forum and others reading up on things. Sorry but hubbie is useless about these things. The "old boy" attitude really gets to me!

PATHETIC!!!

Saw a news piece that GM has fewer than 5% of its stores opened/operated by "non men", and is actively embarking on a plan to recruit potential franchisees...

Initial "liquid investment" is said to be min $125,000 BUT there is no guarantee on where/when/how much an existing store might be available... sad situation.

Doubly sad that in this area the imports are no better than domestics.

ordering MDX near Boston

To CBV:
The guys at Herb Connolly mean it when they say 11 months. I put my order in back in April of '01 for a Black on Saddle Touring. Expect to pick it up tomorrow, which makes 10.5 months.

Of course, back in April, they told me 3-6 months, or I never would have waited so long. If you ask me, the MDX is a sweet ride, but its gestational period should not exceed that of humans.

If I were ordering today, I would put down a deposit at several dealers, so long as its refundable. It's crazy to wait almost a year for a car, and larger dealerships get much better allotments than Connolly and can probably get you in an MDX in 4-5 months.

Which means you'll get a 2002 in September and be angry because the 2003 MDX and the all-new Lexus RX will both be out by then.

Whatever

I put a deposit mid January at Acura of Peabody and was told 3-4 months depending on model. I got a build date for the end of March last week. You may want to give them a call.

cbv,
I originally put down a desposit at Connolly in November '01, and was told 5-6 months, then I called the end of January and it was the same old thing.."well, the schedule has changed, we are looking at September now". I was like, no thanks, I will get a refund, which they gave me with no hassle. Luckily I have a friend in the stereo\cell\alarm business who works with Clair. He made a phone call for me, and I called them and they placed an order for my MDX the day I called (1/18/02), and now it is being built as we speak. So, that isn't a realistic wait time, but I would go with Clair. I dealt with two guys....Doug and Warren, very nice and no problems as of yet. I would also call Acura of Peabody, there wait times that they quoted me were pretty reasonable. They even called me a couple of times with MDX's on the lot from cancellations, so you could get lucky and get one very quickly.....Good Luck, and I can't wait for my (actually my wife's) 'X!!!

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions - I will be calling other dealers this weekend.

Another question: What is the best site to find LIST and MSRP for an MDX and all the options?

And congrats SWHTECH on your (your wife's!) new car to-be!

CBV,

Try Cartruckvan.com for invoice prices(I assume you mean invoice when you say List). The MSRP includes a destination charge of $480.00.

The best prices for accessories is from Tim at Honda Acura World
Good luck if you can get a new X for below MSRP

Follow Up On Options/Accessories Prices

CBV, Some more info on options-accesories

I went to three dealerships in the greater Boston area.

1. Acura of Boston- MSRP- Few month wait but you had to buy at least $2750 of accesories at highly inflated prices. If you didn't want their accesories package they said 8-10 months.

2. Sunnyside Acura in Nashua-MSRP- 5-6 month wait. No forced accesories. Accesories at reasonable prices.

3. Acura of Peabody-MSRP-3-4 month wait. No forced accesories. Accesories a little morer expensive then Sunnyside.

Example for installed side steps,

Boston- $959.00 Nashua- $649.99 Peabody- $709.00

Or get them from Tim install yourself $432.99

Hope that helps.

Just to add to the accessory prices:

Clair Acura running boards: $999
I could only get them down to $860....ridiculous!
