Looking at the pix on the Acura site and on Tim's site, it would appear that the MDX tailgate deflector is black. But then I have noticed a number of photos posted in the gallery at MDX.org where the deflector is the same color as the vehicle.

Does is come in black only and then you get it painted to match? Can you order it as an accessory and ask that they paint it (for yet another fee)? Is that expensive?

We have a SS MDX on order, and are trying to decide about accessories. (We already bought a bunch from Tim as holiday gifts). I like the look of the tailgate deflector, but I'm not sure I would like it as much in black on a SS as if it were color-coordinated, as rear air deflectors are on so many cars.

Have them painted

Just look at the inside of your X's door panel for the color code of your car. Take your Wind deflector that comes in a Honda black polyeurothane plastic...Have a dealer recommend a certified body shop for your Acura and have them painted. Make sure that you have them treat the plastic, i.e. primered it and such before painting it and gelcoating it.

Or, if you already bought the deflector from me, I'll have another one painted here and call-tag back your old one. THe cost for the paint job is $125.

Tim's paint job

Tim,

When you paint the rear deflector, do you use the same number of coats that are on the MDX? (For example, my other car has three coats of paint: base, top, clear.)

Thanks

Absolutely. We use duPont paint products here and they follow the same finish guidelines that your vehicle does.

Hey Tim,

I was also thinking of getting the rear deflec., but I think the ? was if it comes in black. I want it black, so that would be good for me. Is it a glossy Black? Does it appear finished without any paint, and ready for install?

Thanx

The color is black from the polyeurothane plastic. An almost satin color. Neither flat or glossy. Resembles very much like an unpainted plastic panel. Stereotypical of Japanese parts.

Hope that helps.
