Installed Acura Molding Today

I received my black moldings from TIm on Monday and today was the first decent day to install them. Here are some tips on installation.

Definitely have the work area very clean. I used isopropyl alcohol as recommended by Acura. Of course - dry it off afterwards.

I installed the templates which fit too perfect. I used basic masking tape to attach them to the door. DEFINITELY put on both front and rear templates before installing moldings. If you have the templates lined up, yuor moldings will come out perfect.

Peel off the molding tape and line it up directly under the templates. This whole job literally took me less then 10 minutes.

Save the templates becaue you basically turn them over to install on the other side.

I decided to leave a 1/4" gap between the edge of the door and the molding. I just did not want them to start peeling from the edge, although I doubt they would. The rear door moldings have a slant in the front so that when you open the rear door, it won't hit the front door. EXCELLENT design.

I chose to leave a 1/4" gap by the door. You could go right to the edge if you wish.

If anybody ordered the BSM from Sport Wing and would like my templates, please let me know and I will ship them to you. They really help and I could never have gotten them straight and perfect without them.
Nice work Mushman looks great. How long did it take for the whole job and also, how long was the wait after your order to receive it from Tim?
WHole job took me less than 10 minutes - including cleaning with isopropyl alcohol and taping templates and all. OK - maybe 11 minutes including clean up.

I ordered from Tim last Thursday (I was the first one to order BSM from him) and I had them on Monday. Weatehr was cloudy and drizzling last couple of days but absolutely gorgeous today.

I highly recommend them.
Nice Pictures,

It took me an hour to do the first side and then 10 mins to do the second side. I also went with a 1/4 inch space at the door edge.

I had trouble getting the tape to stick to the vehical. It must be the Zaino.

By the way, ordered Monday morning recieve Tuesday before noon.
Thanks so much

Thanks so much for the pictures. I was a little apprehensive about installing them myself, but it does look really easy if you take your time. Glad that Acura decided that the templates were worth including. Too bad they didn't just include these things for 2002.
Thanks Mushman,
I love the pics. The ride looks smooth!
Thanks, Mushman for the pictures and detail instructions. Your X looks really shiny good.:)

Thanks for the GREAT pics, including the templates being taped to the sides. I ordered my BSM from Tim last Friday and received them today. I was also a little apprehensive about getting them straight, but looks like the templates work fine. I will probably install them Friday or Saturday.
Are the moldings effective ?

Mushman

I was suprised to see you mount the mouldings so low down, are they effective there?

Most of the dings I have seen are along the crease, level with the door handles, did you consider mounting there ?
The molding is pretty effective there when you are cokparing it to a car. Maybe a litle too low for another SUV or truck. It is mounted EXACTLY where Acura recommends it since I used their template which was provided. It actually looks pretty good where it is.
Hey Mushman,
I would really like to see pics and hear details of your interior setup- the tv and headphones. Thanks.
Thanks for the nice pictures.

I just received the moldings from Tim, although I don't get my "new baby" for another 3 weeks. I haven't opened it up, but I see a note on the box "NO INSTRUCTIONS INSIDE Ask dealer for instructions before you leave the store" What gives? Do I have to call Tim, or is the template still inside and it is not necessary?
