I'm potentially moving to Charlevoix, Michigan which is four hours away from the nearest Acura dealer in Grand Rapids. There's a Honda dealer in Traverse City which is about an hour away. What do those of you that are far away from a dealer do for service? Can a Honda dealer service an Acura? If I have a mechanical failure will TLC tow the car to the dealer if its so far away? To make things worse, my second car is also an Acura. Aaaagh!
I'm moving 4 hours from the nearest Acura dealer!

I live about 2 hours out of Detroit. So far no dealer work needed (fingers crossed.) However, since Acura does not have complete coverage over the US they have designated locations throughout the state that can do warranty and other work. I have one in Midland that's about 10 min. away. I suspect there is one in NW MI somewhere. I'd ask the dealer or Acura and they can fill you in. Call sales since the shops would prefer to keep business and sales want to move the vehicles out and don't want the location to deter sales.

Barry, dont worry about it. Remember it is an Acura afterall. I live 2 hrs from the closet Acura dealer. I just schedule my service apppointments 2 weeks ahead and have had no problems. The Honda dealer should be able to do the oil changes on the MDX. the oil filters on all Hondas/Acuras is the same. With regards to VTM-4, your Honda dealer can order the fluid from Acura(or u can pick some up yourself), and Honda usually will charge you less for the fluid change.

My local Honda dealer wouldn't even touch the MDX...first they said they didn't have filters for Acuras. So I bought oil and air filters (which are Honda btw!) from the Acura dealer in Memphis and went back but that time they said it was company's policy not to service Acuras. Since then I had my filters changed and routine maintenance done at a local Lube-Shop and every 7500 miles I'd go to Memphis (2 hrs). Have 20k so far and except for the thud (fixed at 5k) no problems whatsoever.
