Hi everyone, long-time lurker and first poster. Hopefully soon to be a first time MDX owner as well.

I am in Canada (GTA) and interested in purchasing a CPO 2015 or 2014 Elite MDX.

I have read a lot about negotiation strategies for new MDXs, but I have found surprisingly little about buying used. Everyone says to figure out what the vehicle is "really worth" and negotiate from there, but I'm having a hard time figuring out that number. The best reference I've found is VMRCanada.com, but it only goes up to 2015 and I'm not sure how to interpret the results.

How much can I realistically expect the dealer to come down on the initial ask? 5%? 10%? More? Or is the ask for a CPO in Southern Ontario already fair with little wiggle room? I have absolutely no idea.

Per AutoTrader.ca, the asks are typically in the range of:
  1. 2015 Elite 35k km: $54-56k (mainly demo models)
  2. 2014 Elite 55k km: $48-50k
I'd appreciate any advice for helping to figure out the "base" price. Thanks!
