Havasu Blue Photo on Acura.com -- Looks Mint Green?

4373 Views 21 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  Krc217
Hi there.

I have a Havasu Blue MDX on order. Based on the swatch in the brochure, I thought that the color would be a very sparkly white-blue. The color on Acura.com, however, looks light green. I'm thinking of switching my order to black or granite green. I worry that the light green color will quickly go out of style, won't resell as easily, and won't look as good with the exterior black trim. What are your thoughts?

Thanks!
~Rachel

Color

Rachel-

EEEEW! That is ONE UGLY color. Get black.

One thing that is SOOOO cool bout the nighthawk black is that at certain light conditions it looks MIDNIGHT blue and at certain angle its BLACK.
I think BLACK is the MOST beautiful color.

I would trust the swatch, not how it looks on the website. From what I understand, the color is currently used on the Honda Odessey (sp?) minivan and is a popular seller. To me, on the Acura website, the Granite Green looks nothing like the actual color, either.
Blue/Green or Gray

I have a Granite Green and find it very difficult to find the color green in it. I think they should change the name to Granite Gray, which is more realistic. However, I picked the color because I think it is the best color available and I really like it. I have gotten many complements regarding the color. It is also a personal choice for each buyer. I wouldn't buy the blue until I could see it in person.
I have the Granite Green, and depending on outdoor lighting, there are times when it does have a greenish look to it. I like it better than a pure gray color. Everyone at work that looks at it loves the color.
Here's a link to Havasu Blue samples from an Acura supplier:

Looks light metallic blue to me, and presumably the same as on the Oddy as Charlie mentioned.

Go for it! I reckon it will look pretty damn cool in the flesh. However, there is always the danger, with such a pale color, that it will look a bit bland. I think some accessories like wheel arches, tail spoilers et al will give it some panache. My wife has ordered black/saddle but nearly went for granite green; havasu blue could well have been our choice if only to be different.
Sorry, I think the Havasu Blue does look mint green. Too bad it is not a deep blue, it would have been real nice. When I saw the swatch, I promptly went for a different color. But if you like to be different, go for the Havasu Blue then.

Agreed. I don't think Acura would go with Mint Green. I would not have purchased the GG if it looked similar to the color shown on the website. If available, go check out an Odyssey of the same color.
colors dropped??

i heard that Acura has dropped GG and mahogony for 2003. did anyone else hear this information too??
They have been discontinued for model year 2002, as well.
My wife saw something that resembles Mint Green MDX on the raod, and said it was one ugly MDX. But that might have been some other color.
I don't think that those colors are discontinued for the 2002 models. You can select mahogany and granite green on acura.com when going through the "build your own" wizard for 2002 MDXs.
Hi all,
This is my first post and I am really excited about this website! You all have been so busy over the past year and a half with stories, suggestions pictures and questions. It's wonderful.
I work for an Acura Dealer and tell all my clients that the Havasu Blue is what the Honda line has already, so you were correct. Go to a Honda dealer and see what it looks like on the Odyssey because, from my experience, the colors on the web are not exact. They are computer generated so they can't be exactly the same. Besides, to see it in person is the true test. The Granite Green has been one of the most popular colors here and I think it looks great so I am projecting that the Havasu blue will also look great. As for the colors being discontinued, that is what we were told also. However, I also heard that they were going to extend the date on the GG. So rachel, see if you can go by a Honda dealer to see the color. The swatch also is not EXACT. Usually the color in the swatch is a bit darker than on the actual vehicle. Depending on what the policy is at the Acura Dealership you order from, you might ask your sales rep to call you when a Hav. Blue arrives there so you can see it even if it is not yours. That is what I do for my clients. *have a second color choice JIC*

From what I understand, GG may become extinct as soon as Havasu Blue becomes available (i.e. HB is replacing GG). If so, it would be appropriate to leave GG on the website. Too bad, I really think GG is a winner. Not sure about Mahogany.
GG and Mahogany are my favorite colors, but I'm not sad to see them go. I wish Acura would do more color rotation between model years. The one problem I have with GG is that probably half the MDXs I've seen on the road ARE GG. I like classy colors but also rare colors. Hopefully they will come out with some more winners in the next release!
I am looking at the swatches that are included at the end of the MDX brooklet, and the Havasu Blue looks like a metallic greyish teal. But thats just me.
Check out www.paintscratch.com and if you put in a 2002 MDX, it shows you all the colors for 2002, including Mahogany and Granit green, along with that new color that just came out.....just another color swatch to look at.
I also have the Havasu Blue on order. Should be taking delivery sometime in May. Previously had the Mesa Beige ordered but once the dealer let me get a look at the Havasau Blue swatch, I switched colors.

I agree, it does appear to be more green on the web site, but I think the swatch is closer to what the actual color would be. I'm basing this on my comparison to the other colors on the sample sheet and what the actual color looks like on the MDXs I've seen thus far. The swatches are much closer to the actual color than the web site. Also, they look different based on the lighting.

I wanted something different, as most of the MDXs I've seen around here are either the Mesa Beige or Granite Green (both of which are great colors). Just wanted to be different.
