So far, I have had great experiences with the following dealers. All charge MSRP.

Acura of Portland (oregon)
Acura of Spokane
Beaudry Acura (Tucson, Az.)
Acura of Las Vegas

The worst dealings I've had so far have been at:

Acura of Lynnwood (Washington state)
Acura of Bellevue (Washington state)

both charge way above MSRP, and Acura of Lynnwood is actually supposed to be the COSTCO dealer. Costco dealers don't have to give discounts on certain high demand vehicles such as the MDX. However, they are supposed to treat customers better than other dealers to qualify to be a Costco dealer.

Great Feedback Mike. I too have had great experiences at Acura or Portland. For that matter, Roger Womack is my salesperson and I think he has added a great deal to the forums.

Both he and Tim (hondacuraworld) have provided insight and made the efforts to answer our questions. I am sure there are other salespeople who would do the same, it's just that I have had great experience with these two. The whole point of this forum is for MDX owners and lovers to share experiences, and lessons learned.

I'll be seeing Roger later today, as my Vin number has arrived and we are meeting to take care of the paperwork. Oh, by the way, today is Roger's day off, but he knows how important this is to me, so he is planning to meet with me. It's that kind of commitment that will keep me coming back to his dealership, and recommend him to all of you.

See ya later Roger!

I see a great deal of dealer experiences varying throughout the country. Are you guys calling every possible dealership, nost just within 200 mi. radius? I live in New York (Brooklyn), and what good use for me if the dealer in Oregon or Las Vegas has a better rate? Although, with over 30 dealerships in the Tri-State area, it's a helluva easier to get a good pricing. But, anyways, if someone DID order from a far, please share your experiences!

I wouldn't mind getting the MDX in Canada - I hear their rates are a little less than here, BUT how would I get the truck? Over email, on the picture, I guess!

Thanks

I worked with a few local dealers, however I wanted to be comfortable with whom I was dealing with. It's not like anyone was going to price the car below MSRP!

I looked at delivery time and price of the vehicle. I also spoke to the many dealers numerous times, and determined on my own, who I felt I could trust. Was it scientific? No. Did it make me feel better when I paid $40g for my car? Yes. Truth is, that is all that matters...

Having said that, I read somewhere (either here or Edmunds or other sites) about several Acura dealers in Westchester County (where I am from). If I recall correctly, most people hated Curry Acura, and most were happy with Acura of Westchester. Hopefully, I got that right!

Either way, my experience at Acura or Portland has been great thus far. The car should arrive this week, and then I will comment on the delivery process. Several months down the road, I will comment on service. In the end, two things will happen. First off, I will know whether I will ever buy from this dealer again. Secondly, I will share that opinion with anyone who is willing to listen. This is the power of the Consumer. There is one dealer in this area (not an Acura delaer) whom I would never walk into again, as they are a bunch of rude, dishonest, foolish people (edited for language). After that experience, I realize how important it is to share my good experiences with people, so they can go to the same dealership and enjoy along with me.

I investigated L.I. dealers; visited Paragon (and was jerked around b/c they wanted $2K over); called other local dealers (5 month waits and upto $5K over MSRP); and finally bought at Brunswick in NJ. I got my car without waiting and paid MSRP with no options (probably just lucky, I called last month and they had one in transit; I went in the next day and it acutally had arrived the night before; but, I probably got screwed on my trade by $1,700). Try calling Fred (nice enough guy, but like all Acura dealers, they make no excuses for asking for and getting maximum profit).

As a NJ dealer they processed my tags, but they could not do the required NY inspection (I had to do at a local shop for $10).

Canadian MDX Check out the threads on this site. I think it may not be worth the savings. First, it only comes with a Canadian warranty, not a U.S. warranty (although you could buy an aftermarket sub-Acura policy). Second, it needs conversion of metric meters (speedo and temperature).

My experience with Curry Acura in Westchester was not what I expected. After reading the Edmunds Town Hall forum, I read a bit about the negative and positive experiences. I went to Curry and made an appointment to see a salesguy only to get there and wait about 25 minutes to see him. He went out on test drive the same time we had this appointment. After finally speaking with him, I asked him if we can jot down some numbers for a 39 month lease, 15,000 miles, he gave me the run around, sorry but i dont have a vin number to give you numbers. I told him dont you have the acura book with the numbers. He replied, Look for for a 39 month lease, 15000 you are looking at a hi 500's. I left there with disgust. Weeks later, he calls me up and says that I have a fully loaded MDX with $2000 worth of accesories. I said "are you for real". So, two weeks ago, I met with Larry from Westchester Acura in Larchmont. I made an appointment to test drive the MDX, mind you, Curry didnt even have a tester. After the test drive, Larry sat down with me and broke down the figures with me, I told him what I wanted to pay, he calculated some numbers, based on the MSRP. So I put down a deposit on 42 month lease on a base MDX with running boards and roof rack, 15000 miles at $515 a month. I ordered a Granite Green. He said that delivery may take place April or May. Im not in a rush, since I am currently finishing a lease with GMC.

COSTCO

Did anyone go through Costco? If so, were there any deals/perks in any area? It never even occurred to me to inquire with them.

I never got my viewfinder :( . Is Acura still mailing goodies? Maybe they'll send us "magnetic" engine bay flashlights instead of a bunch of stuff we can't use? Hey Acura...you <i>listening</>?

Acura of Brooklyn

sgtglok:

Check out Acura of Brooklyn. Great experience!!!

Never owned Acura before, so never dealt with that dealership, nor any of its salespeople.
Talk to sales mgr. Denny Leonard - extremely polite and professional.

He never even mentioned anything over MSRP, a few accessories I bought from him were no more than 10-20% above Acura Web site. Do not get "scared away" by accessories pricing which are attached to the floor model - I think it's a "April fool" joke ;)
He did offer a sub-par trade-in value (but he showed me his book - unfortunately, it's not Kelley Blue Book!!! - the price is 15% lower in his book). Although, I think he was as happy as I was myself when I told him that I sold my car privately and got what I wanted for it.

Talk to Denny!!! If, for whatever inconceivable reason, he asks you for "references" in order to give you a price you expect, email me privately and I'll provide the info.

Good luck.

P.S. IMO, Paragon Acura sucks!!! Off the bat, the guy quoted app. 2.5K over MSRP plus 500% markup on accessories. That was the fastest conversation I ever had with the car dealer. ;)

Don't forget to "rate" your dealer experiences at http://www.acuramdx.org/drview.php. I had the same experience with Paragon (plus they wanted to charge me a second $495 destination fee "to deliver the car from the dealer to me" even though I was a walk-in and $300 to "inspect" my trade-in).

COSTCO

I checked on my local Costco Acura Dealer. The Costco program doesn't include the MDX since it's in such high demand. However, the Costco website said that a Costco represented dealer should still be held to a higher standard, and treat customers fairly. Our local Costco dealer was Acura of Lynnwood (washington state). They wanted $2000 over MSRP. I wrote a letter to Costco, letting them know about the price gouging. They responded, and weren't too happy about it. It doesn't make me very upset when dealers charge above MSRP for a high demand vehicle. I think it is their choice to charge what they think they can get for the vehicle. I just shopped around until I found one at MSRP. However, I don't think that a dealer that is supposedly representing Costco should jack up the prices like Acura of Lynnwood. I guess the moral of the story here is that "Costco won't do you any good".

Cush in San Diego (Costco)

I went through the Costco Reps. Paid MSRP. Accessories were at cost (Shifter, Wheellocks, Mudflaps) or matched Acura website (Tow and Tailgate Deflector) including installlation. (Of course, I had to negotiate/argue to get the accessories at those prices) I'm getting the feeling, whether it's the Costco rep or not, it really depends on the salesperson.

i wish i was an employee then i wouldnt have had to worry about any waiting period. i also dont think any dealers need their employees to talk about how great the mdx really is, considering they have a list of 250 which are sold already. i dont know who joe is, i dealt with tony franceca(could be spelled wrong). i also went up to wayne acura(dealt with troy?) because i live right between both of them, they are each about 10 miles away and i heard the same information from them about the wait when it first came out so i ordered it from park ave because tony was very informative and professional. just because you had a bad experience at park ave, you dont have to go off on me. i just explained my experience and hope anyone going there would have the same experience as me.

John Eagle Acura

Nothing but praise for John Eagle Acura in Houston. Worked with Matt Kerridge. While shopping around in December they had two available to test drive; a base w/ Nav and a Touring. They were very generous in allowing us to test drive the vehicle. On two occaisions my wife and I drove it (once a relatively long interstate trip), each taking a turn behind the wheel. On a third occaision we took a fairly long drive with the whole family (us and three teenage boys). We tested each of the seating arrrangements. On this third drive we all took turns behind the wheel (the two oldest boys, 16 & 17 at the time, drove also).

Absolutely no pressure was ever put on us to buy the vehicle or any added options. He very politely explained that due to market supply and demand they did charge full MSRP. I was not shocked because I had been monitoring Edmund's Town Hall as well as this site. However he explained that their dealership provided the first two years factory recommended maintenance free of charge. They also provided a comprehensive vehicle protection package free of charge. He also told me that there would be no forced options and any selected options would be sold at a 20% discount. These comments plus the fact that they were the closest to our house sealed the deal as far as dealership goes.

After deciding to get the car (it didn't take long) we ordered it on Jan 2nd. They asked for a fully refundable $500 dollar deposit to order. At delivery they returned the check uncashed as they said they would. They were very heplful and informative during the wait period. During the early part of the wait period (mid-Jan), I got a call from a competitor in Houston saying if I ordered from them they would throw in free accessories. If they had done that while we were there we may very well had done that. So I called Matt and discussed their offer with him. He said he would see what he could do. They proveded Cargo Net & Cover and Wheel Locks at delivery as well as the Model! Also they gave us the Two Free Airline Ticket promotion Acura is running for their othet cars.

John Eagle Acura was great. Ask for Matt Kerridge; he is also the Internet Sales Manager. http://www.houstonacura.com

Dealership experience

I got delivery of my Silver MDX last week from Jeffrey Acura (Roseville, MI). I am absolutely satisfied with the way they handled the sale.

They initially called me, and promised delivery in 5 weeks, and also gave me the scheduled date of assmbly (at the factory). They then called me when the car was ready (at factory) and again when the car reached them.

Next day, they arranged to pick me up (from home..about 30 miles) and take me to their dealership. They had the vehicle ready and I was out of the dealership in less than an hour.

To add to it all this, they never once pressured me on any accessories. They asked for MSRP and that is all. I have been looking thru this site for some time, and so I did take a couple of accessories (side-step, wood steering, wood shift knob) and they did not gouge me.

In addition, the price they are quoting for extended warranty is in line with postings on this site.

In one word...they WOWed me. I will suggest that folks in Metro Detroit may want to get in touch with them.My sales rep was Nancy Giovanni and she did a great job!

Nives Rizza Acura in Chicago Area

These guys have been a real pleasure to deal with especially my salesman Len Donnells. Most Chicago area car salesman are better suited (no pun intended) to bowling shirts than coats and ties. Len is an exception and is a real class guy and would recommend him to any of you in Chicago or the surrounding states still wanting to purchase a MDX. Len drove my new MDX to the train station to pick me up and the car was immaculate and completely prep including 35 lbs of air in the tires. Len also brought a towel with him to wipe off finger print and any road dirt from the dealership to the train. All the accessory installation was first class was done the day promised. Can't ask for to much more than that. Len is also very knowledgeable about the MDX and spent almost an hour with me going over the vehicle operation and the navigation system. They also gave me a coupon for a free first oil change. All and all this buying and car delivery experience put me "in tall cotton."

Disclaimer: I like my MDX and had NO problems with my dealer "Acura of Brooklyn" at the time when 90 % of other dealers were asking for $2-5K over the sticker.

I do not want to open a can of worms, but...

A hypothetical situation: You did YOUR JOB properly, you completed it on time and within budget. Do you deserve a mega-bonus and every award available in your business?

Back to reality. Did any of these "great" dealers go "the extra mile?" Did they challenge other dealers to a fist-fight to get your car in faster? Did you get a good deal on your car? (I am not talking about MDX @ MSRP being "relatively" cheaper than ML, RX or X5) We did pay MSRP, which is approximately $2,500 more than the usual rule of "Invoice + $300-$500". Yeah, yeah - "Supply-demand" rule. Better yet - "Good cop - bad cop". One "cop" screws you with a smile, while the other one just screws you. Remember, we do "Have the right to remain silent..."

Sorry, just a really lousy weather in NY today... :(
