What is most attractive and appealing, Granite Green or Silver. I hate to sound superficial, but when I spend 35K plus I would like to turn a few heads.

Both colors are great. GG and SS are my top choice. Since I ordered with multiple dealers, I got one GG arrived from one dealer ans SS from another dealer within one week apart. At the end I chose the dealer that is more convenient to me. What color I got? SS:D

It's gettin' late and I'm feeling giddy, so I added "black" so GatorGreg and I would be able to vote. :D

I see the running's fairly even. I think either GG or SS are great choices. Silver will be easier to maintain -- it'll stay cleaner since it's lighter. It'll have a bright shine. A well-detailed GG will have a deep shine, but can appear kinda dreary on cloudy days.

I think you will turn the most heads with Black. Silver probably is flashier (brighter) than GG. However, GG is unusual whereas every carmaker has silver. I chose GG over silver when I saw both lined up together (if possible, do this). From the brochure I would not have chosen GG. After seeing some of both around town, I like both - you cannot go wrong.

LOL msu.............I would have had a similiar post, except TheWorm saved me by adding black!

I was waffling on what color to buy last year, until came came across TheWorm's post showing the Zaino shine on Black.

http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2693&highlight=zaino+group+buy

I said "wow" and when I showed the pic to my wife she said "See, I TOLD you Black was better". We both wanted Saddle interior & I was trying to decide between another white SUV (my RX is white with Silver body cladding) and ordering RR site unseen.

Black is the best when it's clean, but most of the other colors are a lot easier to keep clean!

Dazed and confused

Funny that this thread came up  . I ordered SS last month after dreading and moping over what color would be the smartest choice. I have a "champagne" (metallic silver/beige) car that was very easy to keep clean and glossy. So naturally the SS was an easy decision based on a maintenance standpoint. But the GG is such a masculine and unique shade of silver/gray/charcoal (which is it??? it isn't green...most of the time), that I was torn between the two colors. Then I heard that '02 will be the only year of the GG color availability. Will this be good or bad for resale? Is it discontinued because of lack of sales (I really doubt it)? Or will the resale of a limited color be in favor of those that own the vehicle:confused: ? Both are unquestionably beautiful colors. Is the GG that difficult to maintain a good shine? Or lack luster in flat light?

Anyone care to share similar thoughts???

I agree with TheWorm here. I think GG looks terrific (I saw Acurate's GG & it was spectacular) and I have seen SS at the dealer look terrific too. My last car was Honda's Heather Mist - a "champagne/silver/beige/??" that was very easy to keep clean.

jskibi..........Either choice - you won't go wrong

Interesting....I visited Edmunds.com to check out resale value of a Black MDX (wow, what a looker!) with a Solid Green (not my favorite color) MDX. The difference is $250 bucks.....add about $125 for Black...subtract $125 bucks for Green.

So color does matter when it is time to trade in or resell.

Did I mention that Black is a really cool color?

Best colors for resale.........

Octavian, the add for Black doesn't surprise me,

According to my good friend who is the GM at a Honda dealer, (and some research I read somewhere) 3 of the best colors for resale (and not necessarily in this order) are Black, White, & Silver. I forget what the 4th one was.

I pretty much had it narrowed down to Granite Green or Silver. I must confess, Granite Green does it for me emotionally. To be pragmatic, silver is easier to keep clean, refects the heat of the sun and is more noticable in a parking lot to lower the chances of major dings.

However, I ordered Granite Green and am sticking with it.

go w/gg

the gg is a much better color , IMHO, the SS is too light, it almost looks white - -if it were a deeper Silver, it'd be better, but the GG is definitely a winner. Of course, if you were thinking black......

My vote is for the silver for two reasons. When it is dirty it still looks clean and the accessories like the black running boards and tailgate deflector look great against the silver.

Don't forget that GG was offered in '01. I think it was the 2nd or 3rd highest seller in '01 (something like 18%). I would guess resale on SS vs. GG is similar. GG is pretty easy to keep clean (maybe a little tougher than SS) and looking good. Again, if possible line them up and decide. For me GG was unusual (i.e. unique) and that was the clincher. Besides, with GG you get several colors in one!

Here is my .02 cents on color.

Black is nice but too hard to maintain. Had a black Accord and by the next day after washing and waxing, you could see a thin layer of dust that settled overnight.

Silver is nice but I noticed that it's the current trendy color. A little while back, black was the "fad" then white, and now, I think it's silver. Even the Acura brochure all display the silver on the cover.
But I must admit, the silver X looks sweet.

Granite Green:
It's a color that doesn't draw as much attention as the other colors in that it blends in. Also, this color is somewhat different since it's not your basic primary color. I guess you could say taht it's a color that you can be "conservatively different."

By the way, silver is definitely easier to maintain than granite green.

SS Or GG

I picked up my GG Touring last Thursday. 5 miles on the odometer.
Starlight Silver and Granite Green are the most popular colors however, the Honda Pilot which is in production now for sale this summer will offer GG as a color option. This is the reason it is being dropped on the MDX. I think it will be an advantage for those lucky ones who have GG X's. This will make them rare. Everyone has their own opinion and reason for the color they choose but if you're going to put out 40K + the best reason is because YOU like it! Has anyone seen the Havasu Blue. If so would you please post a photo.

NHB is simply the best and evergreen color that never goes out of style. Something as muscular as MDX needs a dark color to compliment its macho looks.
Just my two cents!

P.S.
With California duster, maintaining black is a breeze.
