Goodbye Odyssey - Hello RR MDX

Well, I finally got my Redrock MDX w/nav last night! I drove it home (only 9 miles), and it felt great! It was a very smooth ride, and I need to drive it more to listen for any strange noises, etc. My build date was 11/14, it was shipped 11/15 and arrived in Phoenix area 11/21, and finally trucked to my dealer yesterday 11/26. It was #2882 built. We worked with a great salesman at Scottsdale Acura, Glen Davis, who let us know every step of the way what was going on (we placed the order in July). We got it for MSRP and Glen threw in rear mud flaps. Very smooth process, other than enduring the wait (but worth it).
I don't have a digital camera yet (working on that), and will post pics as soon as I get one. The color is beautiful - burgundy wine look in the shade, and a gorgeous cranberry-like color in the sun.
I hesitated on the color and originally ordered a Mesa Beige, but then decided to be bold and go for the red (besides, I've been told that I look good in red;)) Anyone waiting for a Redrock will be very happy with their decision, I'm sure. I'm on my way to pick up some Zaino from a local Zaino distributor. I've already entered his address in my Navi and she'll tell me how to get there. I had the service department pass on waxing the car so we can do it the Right Way - the Zaino Way:)
I want to thank all of you in this great forum who have provided such accurate and useful information to all of us newbies. It is really appreciated. Thanks again - gotta go drive Little Red:)

wow, that was quick delivery..

my build # is 2806 and it was shipped on 11/19.. Looking at your delivery time and being in the northeast - i am surprised it hasn't shown up at the dealer yet..

My dealer told me that they are first going by train to NJ (for NorthEast) and then trucked to the dealer locally..

Do you know the shipping method to AZ?

Congratulations!! Almost everyone of us who opted for the red is very happy with their decision. I was really wavering amongst different colors. My wife told me that I couldn't have a dark interior. That wiped out the top choices of Silver and GG. Red was the best choice amongst the rest. However, after seeing the red, I got to say, I will buy this red over anything.

I just got my digital camera today. However, not engouh time in sunlight to shoot some nice pictures. Maybe this weekend.

Once again, Congratulations and let me know how the Zaino works. I am now getting psyched about the Zaino. Once you do it, please post how to do it right.
Congrats!! Great choice to get the navigation, you'll have such a blast cruising around town.:)

Hello Red Rock Cousin! :) Glad that you got your car. Looks like the number is going up (mine is 1804) Please show your picture since I have not seen one without roof rack.

Congratulations.

Post your picture here so we can have a Red Rock party...

Thanks

Thanks so much for describing your experience. Glad to hear that the consensus is that Red is one of the better colors -- I'm really excited to get mine is a few more short weeks....
Genemish - My MDX was shipped by rail. I, too, was surprised that it arrived so quickly. Yours should be arriving soon...:)

GCK - I'll let you know how the Zaino goes. The distributor was very nice. I bought the clay bar, Z1 (polish lok), Z2 (polish), Z5 (for swirls and scratches) Z6 (gloss enhancer) and Z7 (car wash concentrate). He said to wash with Dawn, then mix a capful of Z7 with water in a spray bottle, spray this concoction onto a section of the car and use clay bar, then rinse the car down, use Z1, then Z2 over Z1 - wait until dry, then buff out with a white 100% cotton USA towel. He recommended putting a couple coats of Z2,(with Z6 in between coats) then a coat of Z5. I've read other threads on this and it seems to make some sense. I want to wait for the weekend so my husband can help me with this;) I'll let you know how it goes. It sounds like a lot of work, but am sure it will be well worth it.

gokings55 - I had fun using the Navi today. I plugged in the Zaino man's address, and it led me to his front door (literally). It is way cool

RedMdxMemphis - thanks for the post. I'll post pics as soon as I can acquire a digi camera. I think my MDX looks good without the roof rack, but I'd prefer it with. I did order one from Tim, but unfortunately, the 2001 roof racks will not work with the 2002 MDX. That's what my Acura service department told us. They are waiting for a new part to be issued, so I'll wait. Tim has been very kind and cooperative about this. I am sending the carrier back to him and will re-order when the new roof racks arrive. Tim is very upstanding and wonderful to deal with.

Wow! That looks like a lot of work to apply the Zaino. Just wondering if there is an outfit which will do that. Anyone in Bay Area know if it could be done by a professional??
Just wondering, did you trade in an Odyssey or compared and decided on the MDX?
When we got our MDX, we decided to keep the Odyssey. The Odyssey (2000) handles better, gets better gas mileage and has more room. However, the MDX is less comfortable and noisier and not as luxurious in general. The MDX's stereo is better.
Re: Goodbye Odyssey - Hello RR MDX

BEST OF LUCK I JUST RECEIVED MY 2002 BLACK/EBONY TOURING W/NAV AND LOVE IT I WENT WITH SIDE STEPS, WOOD EVERYTHING, TAILGATE. SUV IS GREAT EXCEPT FOR PRICING IN THE NORTHEAST AND WAITING TIME
