Hi there,

a first timer to this forum. my apologies if this question is already answered somewhere in the forum.

I am going abroad for one year and will not be driving my 2008 MDX during this time. What is the proper way to leave it in the garage for one year? Disconnect the battery?

Thanks a lot for the assistance!

Best,
Ian

Hi and Welcome..

The entire procedure is wayyyyy too convoluted...

In resume:
1.- You must leave the car jacked up on stands
2.- Remove the wheels from the car
3.- Remove antifreeze, PS and Brake Fluids
4.- Keep the battery on a trickle charger

That is the Recommended Scenario by Acura.

I would put fresh oil in before leaving myself, trickle charger on battery...fresh gas too...Acuras recommended seems a little harsh for a year...but I can see their point..

- fresh engine oil
- add a double dose of fuel stab to tank before topping off the tank full. [ the drive home should be enough to make sure the entire fuel system gets fuel stab in it ].
- taking the weight off the tires,
- trickle charge the battery every other month.
- get all the garbage out of the car and clean interior/exterior.
- crack the windows open by an inch or so and drape a car cover over it.

thats pretty much my routine when I put away my TL for the winter. [ except for the jack stands, bc its only 3 months ]

my 2c
