Is the 2022 MDX going to get a software update, enabling CarPlay to utilize the entire display? No more cards on the right side. Is that already available?

No. Why would it be? There was no plan for it. The right side of the screen is for secondary function.

A lot of infotainment systems have the ability switch between full/split screen for convenience. It would be nice if you had the option for CarPlay to take the entire screen if you don't need the secondary function.

Yeah, it would be. But it won't happen. There are no plans for that AFAIK.
