Is it just me or do you think that Acura should include BSM, Fender Flares, Rear Deflector and Running Boards on the Tour/Nav model? I mean they're(Acura) already getting MSRP!! Most premium models already have this included. It's like they took all of the the finishing touches off of the MDX and sold them separately to make even more of a profit. Acura, where is the love? It's like they're teasing us! Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for them for free but where is the standard. Why build an SUV 8" off of the ground without running boards? Come on!! I know one of my friends has a Sequoia Limited with all of this already on it. I know that they are in different categories but IIIIIIIII have the luxury vehicle, and I have to add numerous options to even compare in looks?? Am I whining too much? Just thinking about this trips me out!! Please comment because there is something that I am missing or not seeing !!

Here's why they're not included:

1. Not everyone wants those exact items. Some prefer the clean lines of the stock vehicle, and some people like to personalize their MDX with accessories (yay! :D). The wide range of stuff available gives the MDX owner the opportunity to make their vehicle suit their tastes.

2. In the case of the rear flaps, I think it was just something to involve the service department in the game. I mean, why not include the rear flaps? You've already screwed the front ones on.

We all try to get more for our money. I know I do. While Acura isn't what anybody would call a non-profit organization, you do get what you pay for in terms of comfort, reliability, and resale value.

There's always tradeoffs. Take Jaguar. They build a premium vehicle with every creature comfort known to man. Just don't expect it to start on a cold morning.

IMHO the MDX looks much better without all the extras. I still like the base model without any flairs, BSM, running boards, rear deflectors, roof rack. I know this is just a personal preference, others like to go to the extreme by adding every option.

I think Acura should have included body side moldings from the start. I think they went overboard with the "clean lines" approach. But once they began offering the vehicle without them, it has to be an option at the owner's taste.

Acura should include the rear mudflaps with the vehicle, for sure. It's a joke, but sadly, I believe the BMW X5, which is more expensive, also does not include mudflaps.

However, I don't feel you can fault Acura for not making running boards, the rear air deflector, and fender flares standard. Some folks want side steps over running boards, or nothing at all there, and/or don't like the look of the fender flares. Neither the RX300, X5, or ML320 come with those items standard (and their customers don't want to be forced to have running boards or flares). Most RX's do come with the rear air deflector but only because regional Toyota dealer associations force the package on customers, it's not standard from the manufacturer.

What Acura should do is include the rear mudflaps standard, and put any money toward improving the vehicle itself as opposed to exterior accessories. E.g. improve the interior materials (real wood, soft-touch dash, etc.).

I agree with wmquan. Mud flaps should be standard for the touring package. I don't understand why mud flaps are standard in front, but not in the back?

Wheel locks should be included as well since the rest of the vehicle has anti-theft signs everywhere.
