WOW - very nice!!:D

Is the factory NAV unit still in use but being displayed on a diff screen or did you use the factory NAVI display too?
Great install...............

Wow, kudos to you and your installer. You have great taste, I also did not like the fake woodtrim but unfortunately is stuck with it, it was a forced option. This is an ingenious design and a great practice of the art of car audio installation. Great choices on gears also. Just plain amazing and coming from an avid car audio nut and a shade tree installer this job is top notch. Congratulations on finding an extraordinary shop!!!!!! Keep your installer close to you and make him your best friend. Don't forget him during the Holidays.
Unbelievable work.. very very very nice.. I like to relocation of the trip screen, the DVD player looks awesome... question, what's the screen in the back for? for 3rd row passangers?
Very very nice. I will put this set up on my MD-X-mas list. If I am good maybe Santa will upgrade my X too.
Digital MDX..... got a question...

I was wondering if this kind of modification voids your warranty on the the non-navi screen. My original plan when I started on my install was to move the stock Bose headunit to where you have the non-navi screen but I was afraid to do it because of warranty issues, this install is what I had planned originally, but I decided with what I have now. I still will be rebuilding a whole new center console that will fit the DVD head unit, equalizers and processors plus the Playstation 2 once I get all the gear together.
One last question. What kind of reinforcement did your installer use to mount the flip down screen?
Headrest?

Are those headrests custom? The shape of them don't look like mine. I puchase a 5" LCD screen and it looks like it will have problems fitting with the trim plate installed.
GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!!!

This setup has you sitting as top dog in A/V installations....for sure that X will be featured in many magazines to come....great job Brian and your installers....well deserved.

Now go out there and represent for X's around the country....:D

As the rest, I await for more details and perhaps a similar installation....let us know!

My goodness....speechless.
Web Address

There's a reference to a web site by BrianL. Could someone post what the web address is?
URL of website

Their website is http://www.innovativeaudio.com/. They've done work on a couple of my cars and will be doing the work on my MDX as soon as I figure out exactly what I want done.

These guys are incredible. They managed to cram a 10" sub, a pair of 6.5" midranges, a pair of 1" tweeters, and two amplifiers into my Miata and I didn't lose any storage space. To be honest, you can't even see that anything is different which is exactly what I wanted.

I've seen the Me-De-X in person and if anything, the pictures don't do it justice. Incredibly sweet job.

problems with fiberglass?

Simply an incredible system!

Has anyone ever had any problems with fiberglass custom trim, where the paint peels or cracks? I'm looking at having similar custom work done on my MDX and would hate to have to do any type of replacement/refinishing work on a routing basis...any thoughts out there on custom trim work???
WoW!!

Oh My God! This is so Awesome!! Now I want to paint all the fake wood trim body color. Does anyone know how to remove them? I'm think of removing all the pieces and taking them to a body shop to have painted. Any thoughts??
1st -- Awesome, simply AWESOME.

2nd -- Someone asked what it cost, but I haven't been able to find the answer. I have heard it said that "if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it!!". This is probably true for me, but have to ask!! Could someone please indicate what that setup cost?? Approximate would be just fine ....

If you get out your calculator (and do some web searching...) looks like there's about $10-15K worth of VISIBLE equipment alone. The MSRP on the brand name LCD panels is still very high, especially the widescreen units.

Next, consider labor. Somebody had to draw up the plans for the enclsoures, create mock-up for test fitting, fabricate the enclosures, begin installation, do fianl trim, tune the system. Well over 400 hrs of work. Assume AT least $50/hr for those costs. :6:

Pretty much the cost of the vehicle... :31:At least the MDX was kinda pricey to start with, I've seen similar amounts of cash be spent on PT Cruiser installs!

I'm interested too.....I will have a single din install and the factory Navi.....I'm thinking about getting a second trim bezel...have the headunit area modified for a custom fit and then have all of it painted silver....I would also replace all of the other wood trim pieces.....Can anyone help us out with some info on the finish process? What is the most durable method....concerned about scratches etc.

Does anyone have access to a headunit removal diagram? Please post a link if available. I am considering just buying a second complete set of these trim pieces...keep the originals to put back to stock if needed...I will check out the prices and post when I find out for those who are interested.

UPDATE:
I am currently talking to my installer and he will get back to me about finish options....but basically the trim pieces run about $200 for the trim bezel around the navi/HU, L and R door switch pieces and the trim bezel around the shifter area. These four trim pieces are the only four that are definitely woodgrain....all others are black so you could do more pieces if it enhances the look.

headrests

Where did you get those headrests from?
I don't think this guy is still a part of the forum. I think i saw his MDX for sale the other day on a carsite.
Amazing systems, I love those extra-large headrests!
