At $1290 its only 1.2 cents a mile or $15 and change per month for 7 years. For peace of mind...why not? I bought one on my Blazer for 5 yr and/or 70K mi. Initially it cost more than Acura's and it's paid for itself at least twice! I can think of dumber ways to spend money. (Like buying a Chevy in the first place! Uh...I'm bashing...sorry)

I'm with Roger

I bought the warranty on my 95 blazer

Two master cylinders...Other brake probs, Electrical problem in passenger seat...Door locks stopped working...Fuel pump went out...Two Batterys (although got stranded with one and bought on a trip)...Radiator pulled and rewelded, and other repairs too numerous to mention. Tons of hours in LABOR and if I didn't happen to be electronically handy...they would have spent days chasing the electrical glitches. I have a volume of receipts. All at under 50K mi. Plus, I had a free loaner everytime they fixed something under warranty. Today...it runs perfect and my wallet is intact.

Cars are too complicated for the casual do-it-yourselfer. So gone are the days when even I could pop the hood and pull and replace a water pump in the college parking lot :)

Personally, I don't like making synomous car payments and repair payments. It's insurance...just like Auto Insurance...Health Insurance. It's there just in case. Part of the Peace of mind is having the $$ to cover the unknowns and avoiding Murphy's law.

I dunno...some gals have all the luck. But it runs great right now and I'm even taking advantage of the warranty to get a few of the minor probs fixed before I trade it, so the next owner has a perfect truck. Thankfully, the service guys have been just great and take good care of me...doing little "extras". So I was always confident in the repair dept. I just hope the Acura service is as good! Guess I'll have to break in a new crew! :)

When I buy my warranty...I will shop the best policy/lowest rate, max out the years 7/100K or whatever it is, AND pay zero deductible. For my money...the extra $200 is worth the convenience of taking it in KNOWING there's no deductible. Otherwise...you've always got that second stage of...**damn, it's gonna cost me $50 to get this checked out...maybe I'll wait for TWO things to go wrong** That kind of thing. Plus...Better resale and buyer confidence. Opting for the $50 deductible means you don't think you'll be visiting the dealer more than four times in 100,000 or 7 years. If you have a problem or series of problems...it could be 4 times in 6 months!

I expect this Acura to run like my old Toyota...but if it doesn't...I'm covered.

Now, on our Health insurance...we MAXED the deductibles because we run like Toyotas!
OFF TOPIC...speaking of....INSURANCE. **Health ins consumer tip for those who need that third row for kidlets. Depending on your coverage options (employee or biz owner)...check into starting the kids on their OWN Individual policy if poss. Why? Most likely healthier now...lowest premium...usually only costs a few dollars more p/m and when they turn 18, or otherwise considered adults, they avoid the underwriting and will likely maintain that same rate as long as you maintain the same carrier. Otherwise..later developing cronic illness like asthma, sports injuries and other unknowns can drive premiums sky high...and when they leave the family plan, your stuck paying higher premiums along with college exp. It's just a way around the $ystem by avoiding underwriting and happened to save us big $$$. It's also proof that insurance companies KNOW what they're doing! :) Sorry for the O/T post.
