My 2014 MDX is nearing 10 years of ownership this June and 120,000 miles. When the temperature changes a lot over a short period of time, I have gotten fuel cap loose warning a number of times. That happened again last week when it warmed up in Chicago and then I also got an Emissions system problem. I took to the dealer and they found absolutely nothing wrong with the engine (after waiting 2 hours because new ownership refuses to give out loaner cars) Has anyone had this emissions system problem warning? The service manager thought it was correlated to the loose fuel cap warning. They said they could not test the vapor/gas in the fuel tank because it was close to full.
Since they turned off and reset the dashboard, the car has been driving fine and no issues.

I had the emissions code that can be caused by a loose fuel cap (and a number of other things) pop one time in my 2014 MDX some years ago and not since then. I reseated the gas cap, cleared the code, and waited to see if it'd happen again but it hasn't recurred and I'm still using the original gas cap.

Most likely your emissions warning and gas cap warning are the same root cause. It might be related to the gas cap, a hose that's somewhat not tight at times (like the hose leading from the gas filler to the tank), corrosion on the filler neck, corrosion around the in tank fuel level sender/pump (so it's not fully sealing), or any of a number of other points and it can be intermittent and only appear when it's extra cold or extra hot, etc.

One way to test for it is for a dealer to inject smoke into the system and look for leaks anywhere along the path and then fix whatever's wrong.

If it's highly intermittent I wouldn't worry about it too much but if it happens frequently then it needs to be checked out.

Don't take it to Autozone and the like though - they'll most likely just sell you a gas cap which often doesn't actually fix the issue.

Hopefully it's only a glitch but I suspect something is going bad. I had oil changed done and they reset as well. Issue went away for a few days then came back. Took to another local garage who actually could pin point issue then fixed it. Unnerving after 9 yrs and zero issues except wear and tear maintenance items.
