Acutally a pretty good price, I'm sure it's not free shipping though.

A lot of dealers try their hand at selling on the internet start on eBay.....myself included. Some dealers try by starting all of their parts at 9.99, and then are shocked when they lose money on everything they sell. Others claim low prices but charge for shipping or charge really high for shipping. None of them last in e-business very long.

shipping adds 7.50

47.75 total versus 48.25

50cents saving, assuming nobody else bids.

Unless you are buying 'used parts' (unwanted accessories, steering wheel, tires replaced by new rims), TIm can't be beat. Most dealers on ebay 'cover their nut' with a high initial bid (or shill bid to protect themselves?)

E-Bay and Internet parts sales

I bid on a "protection package" of rear mud flaps, wheel locks and cargo tray and lost out on the bid. I then contacted the seller, Kendall Acura in Portland Oregon. They sold me the protection package for $134, plus $15 for shipping. Believe it or not, they beat Tim's prices on these items! However, Tim's prices were lower on the remainder of the parts I bought, and I received the parts from him in less than 48 hours. Now all I need is an 'X to put the parts on!

toby-

good price. Are they Acura wheel locks and an Acura cargo tray? If so, excellent prices - I'd venture it is within $10 of the cost for Acura parts...

(I think the weather teck mat can be had for $40 less than the Acura?)

Buy 'em where you can...

:)

Loose- And it is so easy with Tim- phone call, chit chat, credit card #, parts shows up...

No one ever called me Loose before, but hey.

Yeah, I guess a few extra bucks to speak with Tim is worth it.

Maybe Tim should start marketing physchiatric help (that would be a first from a parts manager)!!!!!!!!!

Ardvarkus,

Yep- all genuine Acura, new in box. I gotta confess, I also bought redrock side moldings, too. It came to $254 total including shipping.

I went to the local dealer last night to get our VIN and asked the sales manager how much they charged for running boards and was quoted $550! I smiled all the way home.

As an interesting aside, our local Acura dealer, Acura of Dayton, is starting a club of sorts for their customers. The actual building it is located in has 18 bays in a heated space you can take your acura to wash/wax detail free of charge. They aslo offer a complete detailing by their technicians for $99.

Upstairs is a party room that customers can reserve for private parties, receptions, etc as well. Sounds like a great concept!

"Protection Package" Thanks Toby 267

Thanks Toby 267!!!

Just got off the phone with Mike in parts at Kendall Acura in Eugene, OR. Tel 1-800 888-1036. Got the "protection package" -rear tray, wheel guards and locks for 129.00 plus 21.00 shipping to Mass. So basically got the wheel locks for free. Mike said they will ship tomorrow and he will call with a tracking number (on e-bay now someone has bid 178.50 plus 15.00 to ship-obviously not a member here).

As you mentioned he couldn't match Tim on other items but this one was a good deal.

Now all I need is my X to put them on. April can't come soon enough!!!!

You guys are missing the boat. To save a few dollars and not order all acessories from Tim you are making a mistake.

Loose Cannon,

I don't see how we are missing the boat and making a mistake by purchasing genuine Acura parts from an Acura dealer when they can be purchased at a lower price. If you read my post, you will see that I gave Hondacuraworld credit for shipping quickly, and also mentioned their prices were lower on everything BUT the "protection package" . I also spent over $930 thru them, versus $254 with Kendall Acura.

With the law of supply and demand being what it is, maybe Tim will consider offering the protection package at a discount.

Toby267,

While I have not ordered anything from Kendall, the world is losing something when every $0.01 savings causes people to shop around like lunatics.

Your experience with Kendall sounds OK, but I guarantee that with TIM you will consistently have good experience and a good price (obviously, not the absolute lowest price).

So, if you want to be a whore and buy things at the cheapest possible price continue your ways. However, if you want to encourage people to be more like Tim spend the couple of extra bucks on your cargo tray (why does one need one of these anyway?)

Loose.

The one thing that you find is while selling on the internet, service does matter, but price is the key item to win over customers. That's another reason why I don't carry more in the lines of aftermarket products. Generally, I rely on everyone's input when I do so, only because since I spend most of my day on the phone (yes, you get a lot of "busy" signals lately), on the board, packaging orders, or sending emails. It's tough to price shop the competition when you're plate is full.

What I don't get is how they could beat me on the protection package, but can't match my other prices. Maybe I should try to bring out a protection package special also. Something to think about when business slows to a manageable rate :)

I just put my son to bed at home, and I've got two IMs going and answering emails....some days just never end :)

I also got the protection package from Kendall

I bought all of my accessories from Tim, including wood steering wheel, shift knob, painted rear deflector, cargo cover. All except the "protection package" which was cheaper from Kendall. I got the cargo tray, wheel locks, and rear flaps for $147 shipped.

Because I bought that from him, he offered to get me the wood trim for a lower price than Tim's.

I think Tim is right, price is the determining factor, at least for me, and also delivering the items quickly.
