Do your transmission indicators light up?

I can't beleive that Acura designed it this way, and I have not had a second MDX to check it against, but do the transmission indicator text markings in the tachometer light up on anyone else's MDX? The red or green box around the gear selected lights but the actual text of the gear in thr center of the lighted box does not. This makes it very hard to see what gear you are in a night without looking down at the lightes shifter indcator.

The indicators sort of light up in my MDX. They are not as brightly lit as the red and green outline indicators, however.
Interesting. Mine are, as near as I can tell, completely unilluminated. If it is pitch black out, all I can see is the red or green surround box. I guess I'll have to bring this up at the first service...
Had a chance to check ours tonight. Here's the reference point on our dash:

the transmission gear lights (letters/numbers, NOT the colored box) are illuminated about the same as the inner KM/H dial on the speedo (in the US).

Hope that helps. BTW, adjusting the dash light intensity/brightness has little effect on the inner markings and the gear indicator.
Ok, that matches what I see on mine. The KM/H indicator only gets the spill from the MP/H indicators, same as the spill that the gear indicator gets. Unless you run your dask lights up fairly high - I keep mine low for night vision - you probably will barely notice any illumination. Odd that they designed it that way.

I just bought a used 2002 Touring. My gear shifter indicators (those next to the shifter itself, not the dashboard ones) are not lit at all.
Are they supposed to be lit? My wife got used to looking there while shifting and complains about it. I suggested her to look at those on the dashboard, but they are also not very legible for the above stated reasons.
The ones by the shifter are not lit. It would seem a small task to wire an LED to the shifter and have it illuminate from inside through the letters. Probably not worth the bother, but I know on occasion during the day I have looked down on the shifter to see it's physical position, the dash illumination is so low I often forget to look there.

At least after 2 years I don't forget to release the idiot brake anymore. :D
I'm dredging up old posts but this threw me off a bit when doing a search after I bought my 2002 Used MDX. The indicators next to the shifter DO light up, they don't tell you what gear you're in but they do light up the P, D5, R, N, etc.... When I opened mine up to "replace" the bulb, I found out there was no bulb at all!!! But there is a spot for it and it's easy to add the proper bulb.
