I am looking for an inexpensive OBDII code reader, getting the check emissions light and would like to reset. I tried one from Amazon, ~$20, but does not connect quite right and I get a connection error when trying to read code. There must be a inexpensive reader out there that will connect to a 2007 MDX. Any recommendations on specific mfg./model would be appreciated.

Thanks,

don't go CHEAP....go semi-CHEAP (@$35)....i had to return two different 'cheaper', problematic OBDII code readers from Amazon until I settled on this stand alone unit below which worked like a charm (no need to pair with your android/iPhone- or download any SHADY, under performing apps!...it works as a stand alone unit)- and it just plain works (right outta the box!) with my 2nd gen MDX (I can EASILY clear codes and it doesn't mess with my car's electrical system OR generate new, excess error codes- for which the two previous, cheaper OBDII scanners both fell short in!!!) :29:

Appreciate the recommendation, I will try this one and return the cheaper unit. My first choice would not fully seat into the female connection, so hopefully this one fits like a charm.

Thanks again,

Sure no problem- one of the two initial (cheaper) OBDII readers that I had purchased from Amazon, also would not fit properly into my MDX's port- was a fairly frustrating experience...fortunately Amazon has the best customer service/return policy in the world :29:

Agreed on Amazon customer service, tried to return the original reader and it stated item could not be returned, quick chat online with Amazon and they credited the item and told me to keep it or dispose of it...works for me.

You're very welcome and glad to hear! I diligently read through Amazon reviews before I buy anything and the reviews for this product sold me- + I like things that just work and don't require any extra gadgets/apps etc. to get it working- I'll definitely be keeping this scanner which appears to have good overall success with regard to compatibility with other makes and model cars (works with both my Audi sedan and Mercedes SUV too!) :29:
