Hi all,

First post (other than my brief intro). I've got the CEL/VTM-4 lights on, and I jumped the DLC to get the flash codes. Here's what I've got...

CEL flashing code 23 (knock sensor)
VTM-4 flashing code 77 (PCM...I'm assuming this is a side effect of the CEL)

I've read all the threads on the knock sensor issue, and I'm guessing I'm also going to find a rodent chewed wire.

My question is, how long can I drive with these MIL's on? I'm not talking daily commute or road trips, this is a second vehicle. Maybe a 5 or 10 km trip every few days kind of thing, at most? The reason I ask, is it may be a couple weeks before I can get to the repair myself.

Thanks in advance for your input.

It depends on how badly the knock sensor wire is damaged.. Reason I mention this because when it losses full connection it will not allow you to start the car leaving you stranded.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I figured that was the risk I was taking. If the knock sensor fails, does that also stop the car from starting?
