Actually, many of the negative points he writes about have been mentioned by people before. Just that he seems very negative, but yet says he likes the vehicle, and was disappointed he didn't get more comments.

It's a pretty brief review, though, very short without going into enough detail, but I guess that's the focus of this site.

aztek? axiom? are better styled than mdx?

rx? i repeat the comment someone posted on this board a while ago that the front looks like someone pulled a ponytail too hard... ;)

did the author at least took a look at those?

and what about lustful looks? sh*t, everyone was too jealous to say anything... :D

and overall article sounds more like a mdx-wannabe trying to piss and moan on it to make it easy on 'self!!!

i dont know what this guy was talking about... the part where he says "In seven days of testing, no one, and I do mean no one, asked me what is was. There were also no curious or lustful gazes from passing cars. No "thumbs up" from passersby. This is the ultimate "I want to travel in luxury, but don’t want to attract attention vehicle." is completely dubious as evidenced by another thread I started on here.... i get compliments all the time by strangers and friends...

He May Be Right From His Perspective

From the point of view of getting heads turning, the DX may well be deficient. It's clean simple lines are not as ostentatious as SUVs with half their body clad in plastic, or over styled - like the Motero which looks like a Samurai War Wagon on steroids ..... or the Aztec (hard to be more stare-worthy than the Aztec).
Actually the MDX's understated CLEAN lines were one of the things that most attracted me as far as style. It would tend to appeal to people with taste and a touch of class.
On the other hand, people without any clear sense of style or confidence in their own taste tend to rely on the reaction of others to validate their choices.
Dressing, or dating or picking a car to impress others is something I outgrew a long time ago ....... but others still do it and that is their right. There is no law that requires good taste. If there was there wouldn't be any Black Velvet paintings of Elvis.
On the other hand, do you really give a flying fudd for the opinion of anyone like that. Not I, and when I meet him on the highway with his "classic" Isuzu (probably with neon underlights) I will promise to stare appropriately and reassure him that no matter what those little voices inside tell him - he's not a TOTAL butthole.

What an idiot...!

What an idiot. He states Acura may have a hit when they change things to suit his preferences. HELL-OOOOO!
Looks like the fact that some of us are waiting inordinate amounts of time to pay MSRP for these vehicles is conveniently forgotten.
I think he's jealous; he probably can't afford one anyways.

Did anyone notice that it was an african-American online magazine article? Isn't it interesting that he dinged the MDX most for not drawing attention? Like it is more important to be noticed than it is to be comfortable and safe and not broken at the side of the road calling AAA for help...etc.
Thanks in advance to those who will call me a racist for bringing this up. I'm not even going to reply on that matter.

Roadrunner summed it up perfectly...

Don't think it can be said any better than that....

ROADRUNNER said it well; however I have never been bothered by the AC controls...

when I do need to change the speed of the fan the controls handle it okay for me as I am never in that big of a hurry.

One last thing, I would not drive an AZTEK if you GAVE it to me for FREE!

This guy can't even quote the price of the car properly...
Specs at a glance:

Base price: $38,970
Price as tested: $39,450

don't most reputable car reviews quote the price of the "base" model and then show price as tested to include options on the tested vehicle.

I wonder how the author convinced a dealer to loan him the car for a week. He probably had a problem finding his way back to the dealer to return the car....

Yawn...

I can't get excited about every half-brained review about the MDX. Enough reputable magazines and experts have picked the MDX at the top of its class for me to be reassured that it is so.

Imagine that!! With all its so-called shortcomings and warts the MDX is already number one. What will happen when all the quirks are perfected? Boy!!!!

BTW Superduty Steve, I am African-American and I drive an MDX. What's your point? What do you know down there in Fort Worth that the rest of us don't know?

NewJack, I'm not particularly sure of Steve's point myself, his inference is because this was an African-American magazine, therefore African-Americans are more concerned with appearance rather than other automotive attributes. And apparently this is unique to African-Americans, certainly not true of other cultures, or at least not worthy of pointing out (e.g. have you seen what those white folks at Conde Naste are up to?)

And finally, this is not a racist post, I suppose in the same way that the Klan is not a racist organization, just misunderstood. Steve and his charming "I-can-smell-the-rice-in-the-MDX" wife have plagued the site before (wouldn't you love to have them out to dinner, bet it would be a riot).

BTW, in a marginally-related note, the Department of Transportation for the State of Wisconsin determined that the Klu Klux Klan has a right to adopt a section of highway in their "Adopt-A-Highway" program. Does this mean they'll only pick up white trash?

Yep

Ghost -- I agree -- while I'm not going to start accuse anyone on this board of being anything other than an MDX 'enthusiast', I never understood why the demographics of the website were ever relevant to the critiquing of the review. Regardless of who the website's target audience is, the most relevant items in a car review to me are the quantitative ones -- performance related and quality related (# of defects or problems experienced).

I always net out the scores on Car and Driver comparisons for things like 'Styling'. I kind of feel that I could care less if the reviewer doesn't like the looks -- I'm the one who's buying it afterall.

So, at this point, unless a reviewer says something like 'the transmission needed to be replaced after 500 miles of on-road use', I don't think that there are too many reviews that would effect my decision to get an MDX.
