Canada's version of a VAT is called the "Goods and Services" tax (aka G.S.T.). I bought my MDX in Alberta where there is no provincial tax, so we only have the G.S.T. (7%) applied to the vehicle as tax. After comparing all costs (taxes and other misc. fees as well as registration costs, dollar exchange rate, etc.), I originally calcuated that I could save $9,200 US by buying in Alberta instead of Nevada.
