We left Hopkin's Acura (SF Bay Area) and headed for the winding and hilly roads of Redwoood City.
Michael Anderson made sure I took the long way to the freeway (280) and really push it through the turns, and encouraged me to do a couple fake obstacle avoidance and panic braking manuevers.
The X never faulted even on much less than desirable road surfaces.
More encouragement from the back seat to punch it to max for the on ramp on to the freeway.
As we zipped by a Jeep Liberty I hear from the back seat, " See that? A Liberty rolled over during a test done by Automobile magazine, and 2 months later one rolled again when tested by a German publication."
We pulled over and Michael suggested my brother in law should give it a spin, which he did.
The road test vehicle was a dealer courtesy car, without Navi. He then took us out for 20 min. explained, then demonstrated the same Navi system in an Acura RL.
Should I wait the 6 or 7 months or get on the Priceline and have them find me a car?
Still not sure, need to let this soak in some more. Where I am on the waiting list strongly suggests I will be getting a 2003, unless there are a signifcant number of cancellations.
Deep Mahogny, Granite Green, and Mesa Beige, have all but disappeared for the available color list. A new one has come out starting with later 2002 models, called Havasu Blue.
It was hard to decide if I liked the color. They only had a small patch, but will have a car that color in May for me to look at.
Right now, I am sold on the car and the dealer.
Hopkins is strictly MRSP across the board. No 'packages' and no hike on accessroies. Time will tell, I am in no hurry now, but that is subject to change.

Re: Hopkins

Wow, Havasu Blue comes out in May. That's about 6 mos. and then the 2003's are in the showrooms. Hopkin's sounds good. I wonder when they will start taking 2003 orders? I've been learning to be patient......

I have to agree about Michael. He is a great person and I really enjoyed talking to him. I could not buy a car from him as the wait time was too long and I desperately needed a new car.

You should go south

You should head to the LA area and buy your car. We just bought ours 3 weeks ago from Keyes. No forced options, MSRP.

We bought a Red Rock tour/nav and it took a total of 5 weeks after we said we wanted on the list.

Other dealers in the area said it wouldn't take longer than 3 months. Either way you are getting your MDX sooner.

X Came In but Can't Buy it!

One of the dealers I had a deposit in with called me yesterday. My MDX is in!!!! Touring w/Nav in my color choice, no forced options, less than 12 miles on the odometer, msrp. However, I fractured a bone in my driving foot last weekend and can't drive for 6 to 8 weeks! I have a cast and crutches.....Any one know if you can move a right foot out of the way with a bulky cast and drive an MDX with the left foot? I think the console is too high not to mentioned handicapped access might be a problem as the MDX w/o running boards is high.

I had to tell them, give to the next guy on the list. I hope another one comes when the timing and circumstances are better. Otherwise, I will try this again in November.

Mod,

Nice car choice (GG Tour/Nav).

I broke my heel bone 2 months ago. The step stool I was standing on while drying my MDX toppled over as I reached to do one more wipe of the roof.

They first thought it was a sprain, but 2 weeks later found out it was broken. I never had a cast, by the time they found out it was broken, it had started to heal, and said it didnt pay any more to cast it. I still have crutches and will find out the prognoses tomorrow. But its been two months, and who knows how much longer.

Fortunately, it was my left foot, so I am still able to drive. I have no idea how I would drive if it was my right foot. I store my crutches on the passenger side when Im alone, and on the rear floor otherwise.

The only nice thing about all this is Ive been parking in nice wide handicap parking spaces. When Im all healed up, I will have to go back to parking far away to avoid door dings.
