I recently accepted a new job that will require a good deal of travel, usually by myself, but occassionally with up to three other people. This pretty well ruled out my Ford F-150 SuperCrew 4x4. The SuperCrew was a wonderful truck, but I needed an SUV to make sure I can make it home when the snow hits the mountains around here.

I began doing my research and doing test drives. Drove the Tahoe, TrailBlazer, Envoy, Grand Cherokee, and 4Runner. All of them had their good points but nothing really reached out and grabbed me. While in Nashville last week on a business trip, I snooped around several dealers. While at another brand dealer the sales guy said "what it sounds like you would love is the Acura MDX". While in my hotel room that night I did a lot of internet research and it did indeed look promising. I did not know about this site, but the MDX thread on edmunds.com was a great help.

I called the Nashville dealer the next day and while the guy was nice, he said he did not have any on the lot, and all of his coming in over the next few weeks were sold. I spoke to Knoxville and Johnson City dealers and they said the same thing. I called Pye Acura in Chattanooga and they had two on the lot. I drove over to Chattanooga and looked at their two. One Mesa Beige and the other Black, both touring models without Navi, which is how I would have built one. I drove the Black and immediately realized this was the one. The nice sales lady looked at my Super Crew and made me a very good offer....MSRP plus a very good trade in value for my truck. Because my new employer would be giving me a car allowance, I had to confirm it would be enough. The next day I was able to confirm it would be enough and I called them back and made one last offer to buy it at a slightly lower price than she had quoted me. She called me back and agreed and I picked it up on Saturday. I highly recommend Pye Acura in Chattanooga. Ask for Reta Maynor, she will treat you right.

All I can say is Wow! What a great SUV. It is by far the best driving vehicle I have ever owned in over 20 years of owning cars. I don't know where to begin....it drives like a sports car, is solid, stable, and most importantly, passed the "cool test" with my 14 and 10 year old sons.

Favorite feature? Besides the handling, it has to be the Bose audio system. It is awesome. I'm still learning about the features, but so far I continue to be completely amazed by it. My wife loves the heated seats.

My hat is off to Acura for making a perfect vehicle for my needs. I look forward to becoming a regular member of the message boards. I'm sure I will have a lot of questions for you veterans, so for that help and advice, I thank you in advance.

If you see a black MDX with a pewter University of Alabama tag on the front, wave to me, I'll be the one with the grin.
