We picked up our Redrock Touring on Jan 9, and, like you, I was worried about problems. I printed out all of the service bulletins for the '01 and some posts from edmunds.com. It appears that most (if not all) of the problems on the '01s have been corrected on the '02 models. I couldn't find any of the reported problems on mine. We now have 2217 miles on it and haven't found anything to complain about. We have tried out most everything (almost full cargo, 7 passengers, hills, curves, Interstate, etc.), and everything works as well or better than expected.
I recommend getting your accessories from Tim at HondaAcuraWorld.com. My BSM and cargo stuff arrived the day we picked the MDX up, and I installed it in less than an hour. I'm still thinking about fender flares and sidesteps. BTW, you will really like the memory seats. My wife and I switch off driving our 'road car' (the MDX now), and readjusting has always been a pain in previous cars. I also found that the power passenger seat allows me to fine tune my seating position, which makes long trips MUCH more comfortable
. The tilt-down mirror is also very nice, and my wife loves the Bose stereo.
