We have been anxiously waiting for our '02 white, touring since September. It is due to come in in a few days, and therefore, I have been seeking all information in these WONDERFUL forums :) ! The info is great, but some of the problems make me nervous. Understand - we purchased our last brand new SUV, and it turned out to be an incredible lemon (understatement!). Of course, it was not an Acura but a Blazer (I know, I know - no comparison!). 40K is a LOT to pay for problems - I need reassurance! If there is support to be found, I know it will be here! This site is great!:D

You are buying a HONDA product, there is no comparasion with GM products. I had a Honda Civic which I bought in 91 when I was going to school, it has more than 250K miles and still runs. These cars are built for ever with a little care & timely oil changes they will last you a long time.

Did you pay any premium or just MSRP. I am quirious as I am in the market for MDX too.

Good luck with your new set of wheels.

You'll be fine.....

I picked up my white, touring package MDX last Friday and it was the most exciting day! Until mine, I had never seen a white one in person before. You're gonna LOVE IT!

As far as "problems" go, I wouldn't be all that concerned. Granted, there's always a chance of something happening or going wrong but, in the 'big picture', the Acura/Honda line of automobiles are known for quality.

Frequent this forum to stay abreast of what's going on in MDX-ville and, participate in discussions. But most importantly, just enjoy the HECK out of your vehicle.

Just a footnote, if you haven't considered them already, I highly recommend the body-side mouldings. They look AWESOME in white! :D :D :D

I bought them from Tim @ HondaAcuraworld and put them on myself in about 20 mintes. Installation is completely idiot-proof.

I've had my car for two months and I love it. It's a solid, weighty, comfortable drive, and has lots of room for 'stuff'. I've had no problems with it, whatsoever. The only thing I need to add is a blanket for the back seat - poor kids don't have heated seats... and the leather is cool in the wintertime until the heat gets a chance.

I feel very lucky to own a car that's a delight to drive and has exceptional safety ratings, and I think you'll feel the same when you get yours.

Waiting is the hardest part - when it arrives, and you're driving away from the dealer's lot, you'll be so relieved and so very happy!!

I'm a happy owner of a three month old MDX. You've made a wise choice. I can understand your anxiousness. I was like a kid waitng for Christmas morning; it could not get here soon enough. I'm sure there are isolated instances of problems, but that is with any vehicle. I owned a Honda Accord for sixteen years, so I'm loooking forward to many years of MDX satisfaction.

Oh yeah, that's why we ordered it!

Thanks for all of the support, everyone! I have been so excited, but I guess the waiting (and more waiting and more waiting) takes its toll! I guess I should just be glad I know what to look for if some of the same problems occur with mine!

To answer the question posted by BDMDX - I am only paying MSRP (it hurt just to type it as I have NEVER paid sticker price for a car). But to ease your mind (if needed), it is an excellent value even at MSRP. When we began our search for a new SUV, I looked at the Highlander (for about 3 minutes) and then went back to the MDX. The HL, although not in the same class, was priced (fully equipped) very closely to the base MDX, but when you get in each vehicle - there is no comparison! We did decide to upgrade to the touring, because we wanted to add the roof rack anyway and felt the other features would be very convenient (especially the memory seats - as hubby and I are over a foot apart in height:eek: ).

Thanks again! I cannot say enough good things about this site!:D :D :D

BDMDX......

what part of NJ are you in? As you can see by my name, I'm in NJ, too. If you're sincerely in the market for an MDX, have you checked with Ardmore Acura? I just bought from them and was very pleased with how they treated me. They sell @ MSRP with no forced options. When I picked my MDX up on Friday, my salesman told me that they had several coming in next month that were not spoken for. If you're interested, I'd be happy to give you his phone #.

Hey 'X MOM, you can relax, the 'X is the real deal. It is recommended by Consumer Reports (unlike the X5 and MClass) and is Car & Driver's reigning "Best Truck" in the category of Luxury SUV, beating out the X5, Land Cruiser, MClass, and RX300 in the process. It also won Car & Driver's comprehensive "Designer-Ute Smackdown", beating out the X5, RX300, Montero, QX4, ML320, and Disco II in the process. It won Motor Trend's SUV of the Year for '01 (not eligible for the '02 competition), and even won the distinction of being one of the top 5 "Griswold" :p Family- Haulers according to Edmunds. I have links to most of these articles in the "library" at the GO CR-V/MDX Club website linked below if you should care to read them. I greatly enjoy my 'X and having driven Acuras since 1989, I can tell you their quality is top notch and will probably never leave you stranded as long as you keep it filled with oil and gas. Since you are apparently switching from a Chevy, I think you will be most pleased.

We picked up our Redrock Touring on Jan 9, and, like you, I was worried about problems. I printed out all of the service bulletins for the '01 and some posts from edmunds.com. It appears that most (if not all) of the problems on the '01s have been corrected on the '02 models. I couldn't find any of the reported problems on mine. We now have 2217 miles on it and haven't found anything to complain about. We have tried out most everything (almost full cargo, 7 passengers, hills, curves, Interstate, etc.), and everything works as well or better than expected.

I recommend getting your accessories from Tim at HondaAcuraWorld.com. My BSM and cargo stuff arrived the day we picked the MDX up, and I installed it in less than an hour. I'm still thinking about fender flares and sidesteps. BTW, you will really like the memory seats. My wife and I switch off driving our 'road car' (the MDX now), and readjusting has always been a pain in previous cars. I also found that the power passenger seat allows me to fine tune my seating position, which makes long trips MUCH more comfortable:p . The tilt-down mirror is also very nice, and my wife loves the Bose stereo.

Don't lose your line to get the MDX... The MDX as a SUV is everything you heard about. The best thing on the MDX is that its a total package, not a niche product that one might want to get a special feature for. You get it for good ride, sport and lots of utility, when you need it. The newest recognition is the Automobile magazine February edition that give it the BEST mid size SUV of the year, again beating all the others including the BMW X5, MB, Lexus, etc. Editor's comment was that they fell "sporty" last year so they gave the beamer the award (which they probably shouldn't have since the beamer has no "utility" space to speak for.) Anyway, read as much as you can on this forum to find out yourself.

The craze for MDX, like Odessey, appears to continue. I am very happy with my 2002 Red Rock Touring with Navigation.

I am in Piscataway in central jersey. Who was your Salesman at Ardmore Acura? I can give him a call. I am looking for a 188 Mahagony, and also looking for a deal which I understand is hard to get on a MDX. I have never paid MSRP for a vehicle, but for MDX I may have to make an exception, or wait when Honda Pilot & Lexus GX comes in the market may be then the dealers would make a deal.
