Alright, folks, tell me what's going on here:

The wife drives an '01 MDX.
Wife gets to office, turns off car, and locks doors using key fob.
Wife goes to car at the end of day, unlocks doors with key fob.
Wife pushes down on the brake pedal before putting the key in the ignition.
Electrics turn on -- a/c, radio, console display!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't have believed her had I not seen it myself.

Am I so dumb that I never knew this happened, or is something wrong?

Thanks,
Mark

My service manual is in her car, so I don't have it with me right now. Is this something I can do myself? (I like to try to do things myself.)

Any tricks that I need to know?

A 2001 to my knowledge does not use CANBUS. It is an OBD2 system.
Does this vehicle have aftermarket electronics on it such as an automatic starter or alarm system?

The '01 does have an OBD2 port, for sure. Aside from the Acura key fob and an aux input plugged into the back of the factory radio, there are no extra electronics.

I mentioned this to my mechanic yesterday, and he said that he'd scan the car for any codes. I'll report back if that doesn't pick it up.

Thank you for your comment.

Perhaps I am mistaking CANBUS with something with similar name. What I am referring to is the controller that uses the same wiring for the same things.. This system was introduced in the late 90s to save wiring, It uses a digital signal to interpret different things from the same wire as in (Using the same wire to make the windows down or lock the doors).
