I have had this happen about a half dozen times now:

I will shut off the truck, remove the key and start to exit the vehicle. The beeper that warns that the key is in the ignition
will go off and if I try to lock the truck with the remote, it will not.
Simply, it thinks the key is still in the ingintion switch. Replacing the key and removing it again always fixes the problem. It appears that the switch that senses the key has been inserted/removed occasionally malfunctions or becomes confused....

Anyone else experience this problem?

key problem

Possible damage to the embedded chip in your key: the security chip could be sending the "wrong" or no message to your X. Check with the dealer to see if they can mint you a new key. Good luck!

Mogur,

I haven't had that problem but I think your self-diagnosis is probably right. There's a pressure-senstive switch in the ignition so it knows the key's in there (and rings the bells when you open the door). Probably sticking, or poor connection (at switch or to ground).
