Hi everybody!
I've been a member since October, 2001 and learned a lot from this site. Took delivery yesterday of a brand new 2002 Black/Ebony Base MDX with moonroof visor and rear splash guards. I'm planning to add running boards. The vehicle is exceptional in essentially all respects. My wife and I are very satisfied with our buy. Thanks to everybody for all the information that contributed to our decision of buying the MDX. Are there more boricuas in this site? Greetings from Puerto Rico... Saludos....

Thanks a lot. I'm sure there must be other guys from our island visiting here. So guys start to post !!!!

Acura PR
I hope you get your MDX soon. Excellent vehicle. Unfortunately (for buyers but not for the dealer :)) all 20 MDX's that arrived on 11/20/01 were sold by 11/21/01 :( But there are more coming soon, maybe the first week of December. Ask for Gustavo Bernard at Acura de PR. He is a very responsible salesman. You will not be disappointed with the MDX!

I'm from PR too

Saludos! I hope you enjoy your new MDX. I don't have one but I influenced my father into buying one. He has a 2001 Mahogany with Saddle interior and he is very satisfied with his purchase.
By the way you should also get the flares, roof rack, mud guards and the tubular running boards, they will make your MDX look even better. I'm pretty sure Bernard or Edgar Torres, the manager can get you a good deal on all this stuff.
Happy motoring!!!!!

I'M back! I have to admit that I need to be more active in this forum from now on in order to keep myself updated on post coming from Islanders. :p

Acura PR, Boricua TL,

Welcome to AcuraMDX.org! You don't have an idea of how happy I am to see more Boricuas becoming members, and of course, becoming owners of MDXs. More than that, I am glad to hear that some have mentioned their good experience dealing with Gustavo Bernard of Acura de Puerto Rico. I know him before he started working with them and I didn't know if he treated other clients as good as he did with me when I bought my MDX. I'll let him know when I have a chance. I'm sure that I would give him any positive or negative feedback if I see something posted here. I have mentioned him this site but I'm not sure if he is accesing it.

Gustavo, are you reading this?

Saludos a todos! :D

I'm sure there are more boricuas reading this board. A couple friends of mine just bought theirs last week and I'm pretty sure they are reading this also.
There are quite a few MDX's in Puerto Rico. The first seven or eight that were brought in did sell within 14 days. Mercedes ML's are just more popular. The BMW in my opinion is not as popular though certainly looks and performs very well.
As a matter of fact you may see a couple MDX's at this weekend's SoloUno event in Salinas. They are not competing in the SUV class (although they could!) but I've seen them there on past events.
I do own a 1994 Acura Integra, great little car, which I race at these events in the Stock Class (SS4)
See you around.

WOW....great response from all my PR hermanos....and here I though there were just a few of us!!!I use to live in good Ol Guaynabo but had to move to N. Virginia due to job transfer..........I own an MDX I picked mine up in 10/00 (yes, 10/00) mine was one of the very first and boy what a reaction I got all the time from all sorts of people on this vehicle.........So how much is that nasty Hacienda tax on this vehicle?.........that was the major downside when buying a new vehicle in PR..............Bueno a todos mis hermanos de la Isla un abrazo :)

GG, Base, nose cover, rear muds, wheel locks
1965 Mustang, 289 CI, Pony Interior and lots of fun (this car was in several classic/Antique car and shows in PR.....San Juan, Ponce, Isabela.......)

Hi Tito MDX!
I told Gustavo about you and he recalled you. He knows of this site but does not visits it. My experience with him has been excellent.

Acura PR
I believe that the Lexus RX300 is also very popular here in the island. But we are a more "select" group around here:D

RETGMAN
Saludos boricua! The duty charges on the MDX are obscene here in PR but you know what Hacienda says: "Para servirle.... yeah sure :)

Saludos a mis hermanos puertorriquenos!!!! Feliz Navidad!!!!

Maybe we can have our own section on this site :)

MDXPOWER: Thanks for your response and for reminding me about the "Hacienda's famous (infamous?) line". By the way I have several friends who live Trujillo Alto in Encantada...........I have an Obras Publica story about Acura cars...in 1987 I was transferred to La Isla del Encanto and I shipped my brand new 1987 Acura Integra to PR, at that time Acuras were just begining to arrive in PR. When I went to Obras Publica to register the car it took me over 4 hours, they did not have the Acura name in their computer system........finally after much talking, I convinced one of the supervisors to register my car as a HONDA!!! So there I was driving an ACURA with a HONDA registration.........sad but true...........keep those MDX and motoring stories about PR coming...........SALUDOS a todos........

Hi RETGMAN!
I live near La Encantada at Trujillo Alto and know some folks there but it is a large community there! BTW, that's typical behavior of "Obras Publicas" but I have to admit that they have improved somewhat. At least you don't have to wait as long as before when you are renewing your driver's license. They now have a big "kiosko" in Carolina with all sort of computers and stuff to agilize the process, pretty close from my home :)
Have a Merry Christmas pal!
