Just had the whining accompanied by battery light and brake light scenario. 150k miles. Took 2 hours to replace the alternator, but super easy. I saw one comment about bending the power steering reservoir out of the way; why? It slides right off the mounting post.

Anyway, was surprised at cheapness of this part. My 1999 rodeo had 350k when i wrecked it with it's orig alternator. I know because i was sole owner.

Denso makes the original Alternator... I dunno what is your take on "Cheapness" but Denso parts are among the best in the world.
My TL-S is still riding its 120A Denso Alternator with over 220K and powering a 1000RMS Sound System.
