Just had the compressor replaced today. after replacing tried to add Freon and it wouldn’t take it. someone recommended it was the “expansion valve” that was probably clogged up causing the issue.

1. Should the compressor be kicking in anyways?
2. Where is the expansion valve? How would you replace it.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP.

Sorry, but a/c work is one of those things that is best left to the pros. Are you really sure you needed a new compressor? Throwing parts at is because "someone recommended" is no substitution for a real diagnosis by a pro. What if your compressor isn't or wasn't kicking in because of an electrical issue rather than a failed compressor? Many shops do an initial a/c recharge/diag for ~$70 + freon if they have to add any. At my shop we recover any existing freon first and only charge for any additional needed to bring the system to the proper charge. Only then can you start to trouble shoot a system that isn't working.

So you replaced the compressor yourself? Or one of the shops did?
