Hi All,

I just wanted to give a parting note to all those who have answered my questions in the past... I cannot wait anymore for the MDX since we need a car ASAP. After looking at the RX300, we've decided that it is just as nice if not a bit nicer than the MDX. It is smaller, and I will miss the third row, but the important thing is that it is available, and that we like it.

I would have been happy with either car, but 10mo-1 year wait is just ridiculous... I was never even given a clear idea of where I stood in line. When I called to cancel, I was told "ok, send us the order form with a line accross it and we will send you the money". I was happy that it was painless, but a bit disturbed that the salesperson made no attempt to try and convince me otherwise (or even check for my spot on the list). If it is such a huge seller that the salesperson could care less about loosing mine and other's sales, it sounds like a raw deal for the buyer from the start.

I was going to pay MSRP and feel good about it. But oh well, It may hurt them later when demands slows down... for now, they'll enjoy the fruits of having a product on demand and they'll milk it for all it's worth. I just hope they put some of that money away for the thinner years :)

Thanks again to all for all your help!

Bio....bummer dude, I was pullin' for ya. But I can fully understand the frustration of how you have been treated, plus the long wait exacerbated the situation.:(

As a former Lexus owner, I can say that Acura has a looooooong way to go to come close to how Lexus dealers treat their customers.

But hey, the RX300 is one fine SUV and you really can't go wrong......enjoy.....wish you the best.:)

Sorry to see you make the decision but that was what I found during my wait. The Lexus dealer kept on calling and the line was "We have the car; they don't." My neighbor bought RX300 with a $3K price drop. I was feeling that the MDX is a bit more available or choices of buying out of town (i.e. Florida) seems more common... anyway your story definitely is not the first one. Enjoy whatever you buy.. in luxary car class like this, you have a lot to enjoy .. be it BMW, Lexus, Mercedez or for us the MDX. You are among the lucky ones...

Took my x in for it's 7500 service the other day. Dealer still had no x's on the lot ( a white one was in the back waiting for delivery). They did have RX300's and an ML320 on the lot for sale though. ;)

Can't wait any longer...

Sorry to hear you had to give up on the wait for your MDX. You folks in the north especially seem to be having a v-e-r-y long wait. Mine was only four weeks, as it happened! (I just can't help feeling smug about it).
I know many people who own the Lexus you have bought and are very happy with it - good luck to you.

My condolescences

Dr Art-

Had I seen your posts earlier..I would of extend my help to you and your family. Yes I have heard of some wickedly long waits in certain parts of the country.

Here where I live the normal time is three months maximum. Had I know then..I would of e-mailed you and let you know of this dealership name Ball Acura in National City where the service is platinum! These folks had shipped MDX to Hong Kong, Jamaica, and ALL over the United States. I know that on the day that I picked up mine. My sales rep had a call from a guy in Oklahoma and he wanted to get the MDX. There was one in stock he wanted so my sales rep basically said. okay. Paid me an extra $250.00 and I will FLATBED the car to YOUR house with NO Additional expense other the MSRP Tax and license.

Then on top of that they would send the VIN and files to the nearest ACura dealership of your choice to get the first oil change for free so the dealer will have you on file for near future.

Dr. Art:

Sorry to see you not buy an 'X. I do feel your pain. Hopefully, the next time you get ready to get a new SUV, you will become a member of our club.

RX300 is a fine vehicle. You get better service for the price you paid. Acura gives you more options, but poor service.

shouldn't of said goodbye

i'm in the tri-state area of ny and have to pay above msrp in order to get in two months. if the dealer was telling you longer it was there way of saying you had to pay above msrp. the demand is very high and there were other people that outbid you that's why there was the wait i researched for 9 months prior to my purchase and found out all the facts. i'm sorry to see that you went with the lexus because it is nice, but not the quality and drive of mdx. the lexus is narrower and has much less interior room. it is a little quiter not much since the improvement in the 2002 insulation. less horsepower, and most of all the navagation is user friendly and much more accurate and easier to read on the mdx. i'm sure you'll love the lexus and comparing all features like radio, navagation, size, and power you can't compare the lexus to the mdx they are different catagories. best of luck with the car, next time have to pay over msrp until the new plant opens and production increses which doesn't look like till next year maybe. have a great new year:D
