My 2001 MDX has 160000 KM on it. I got faulty 4th Gear Pr. Switch (P 1740 ). And I do not have D5 or D4 engine lights flashing. Any info like DO it yourself / diagrams / location of the switch etc. on this topic is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Was your trans slipping? Besides the faulty switch it could be a trans/tc converter issue happening. I would have a professional look at it.

Thanks for your kind response midnightMDX .

Vehicle runs smooth and great without any hard shifing, jurking or any intruption.

But between 50-80 km speed sometimes I noticed intermittent chattering comes from right front side from last one year. I did transimmission oil change about10 months back. I took to Mister transmission and they could not get any codes for 4th gear pressure switch or torque converter deffect. Only Dealership mechanic got the code for 4th gear pr. switch during diagnosing for my vtm 4 light. I changed my vtm 4 sensor and vtm 4 problem solved. And the way mechanic drives, they have not found any proble with TC.

Please advice more about pr.switch, and how impartant to replace, or any resource where I can find mor details etc and to locate it so that if possible I can do it myself.

Thanks and your interest is highly appreciated

In my 2004 service manual page 14-193 shows the 4th clutch transmission fluid pressure switch accessed by removing the intake manifold cover (4 bolts). It says it has a brown connector. It looks like it is on top of the engine and just unscrews with a 20 mm wrench or socket. Its location is a bit unclear to me in the diagram. This is a different year vehicle than yours and I haven't seen it myself so your mileage may vary but it looks pretty easy to replace.

There was neither CEL was on nor I reset. This problem was told by the dealer when I took to to diagnose DRL defect. It may be dealer tactics to do little extra turn over I guess:4:

if you want to replace the switch its the brown sensor almost under the throttle body and air cleaner hose
