After my first factory oil change I would like to change my own oil. Does anybody know if the 3.5 RL filter will fit in the MDX? Should be able to purchase a FRAM or Purolater from the local Kragen if this is the case.

I'm missing your logic -- why use cheap filters on an expensive car? Tim sells a pack of 6 filters and drain plug gaskets for $27.90 including shipping; that's $4.65 each. If there're ANY places you don't want to play cheapskate on a vehicle, they're lubrication, tires, and brakes. I like changing my own oil, too -- but when the car's still under warranty, I have it done by the dealer so there are NO questions if there's a warranty issue.

I agree Fram? The tough guard series is better than the plain filter. I remember a bunch of posting's on Oil filter's, somone was going to cut open different filters and report back to us. Not sure if that happened, I believe Crem de la SUV was the one going to do the testing. Where is our report Crem?

Not only is the 3.5RL oil filter the same, but the 3.2TL oil filter will also fit on the MDX.

I believe there was a conscious effort on the part of Honda/Acura to make this the case.
