I see this bull **** all around the internet. The only thing that causes early oil change intervals is stress and load, or excessive idling.

I'm just letting everyone else know that you are out of your mind with those oild change intervals.

If you were actually interested in protecting your engine you would do oil analysis and find out what your oil interval should be from evidence, and you might even find out you need to change oil types as well.

Just be sure you're checking your oil level after starting the car, idling for a bit (let it cycle through), then turn it off and check.

I checked and it shows the same oil capacity (5.6 quarts) for the 3.0LT and 3.5L engines (I thought that may have been an issue). But I'm also wondering considering if you're changing the oil at such low intervals, they may be leaving the oil filter in place. If the oil filter is left in place, then approximately 0.3 - 0.5L of oil should be held back as the filter already has oil inside. That may be a reason for their overfill. God I hope not as it screams incompentence, but stranger things have happened at car dealerships.
This is the level at first thing in the morning no start up

I've done blackstone oil analysis on my last 2 cars, and both landed at 7,000 miles being the earliest necessary change. Both were tuned turbo engines (GTI 2.0t and Audi S5 single turbo v6 very similar to the mdx-s engine)

I haven't changed the oil on my Type S yet, it is at 6300mi - It will get changed next week at the dealer when the car is there for a new sunroof. I suppose if I had to put a rule on it I would say after 5000 miles, but before 8000.

Most manufacturers say you can safely go 10k miles per oil change, even on higher performance cars. They aren't lying, but you will start to see miniscule amounts of additional contaminants in the oil by then.

Do you baby your car or drive it hard?

I think one thing fair to say here is that for me, regardless of recommended intervals (which I adhere to), I try to maximize the least amount of times someone else touches my car. There's so many opportunities for a person, of whom does not know me and therefore may not care for me or my family, to eff up my car. At an Orange County Acura dealer, they one time brought my car out with 2 of the 5 lugs on the right front wheel (not a joke). I lost my ish in astonishment.

So with that in mind, this blue smoke scenario, likely caused by some overfilling moron, does not surprise me in the least.
