While at my local dealership for some maintenance on my 2009 MDX, I was able to test drive a new RDX AWD back to back with a new MDX AWD. Size aside, I came away preferring the RDX. IMHO, it seemed much sportier than the MDX (more like my 2009), and had more current tech. I was not able to drive the MDX Sport Hybrid, but if 3 rows were not necessary, I would opt for the RDX. My only regret is that there is no V-6 performance option for the RDX.

I really liked the RDX Adv with the heads up display, updated seats with headrests that move up/back, even better LED headlights, and sound system. I didn't like the road noise from the rear, back seats didn't recline, and mpgs can be in low 20s if you turbo boost too much. The current MDX is way behind in tech and interior styling compared to the +19 RDX. You might wait until the 4th Gen MDX comes out because it should look very similar to the RDX; but, with the a V-6T.
