New guy here...

I already searched and found only one small comment about this. Can anyone confirm that this is 100% true? I just bought a 2016.

I really like the look of the 2017 boards over the 2014-2016 Advanced boards. Thanks!

There is only a confirmation of 2017 side skirts fitting a 2016, and 2014-2016 Advance Boards fitting a 2017. The attachment points are very similar for the 2017 boards with the 2014-2016 Sport Running Boards, but there are slight differences that make the job uncertain. There are additional bolts under the car (8 total instead of 6). Both 2014-2016 and 2017 fit a total of 17 side clips, though interestingly enough the 2017 only uses 14 of them. We know that the underside bolt points in the 2017 accommodate the ones that the 2014-2016 need. The part that becomes uncertain is where the additional vehicle panel holes are in the 2017. There is no certainty that they also exist in the 2014-2016s. The rear one is known to exist in the 2014-2016 because the Sport boards use the same, but the front side panel where a stud/bolt and nut fit the front L angle is an unknown. It is possible it does, because the instructions depict it near the existing front support location for the Advance boards, but nobody has actually provided a visual DIY of the Sports boards yet, so there's no way to confirm.

Anyhow, here's the instructions page for the 2017 accessories: https://estore.honda.com/acura/accessories/installation-instructions/oui-list.asp?year=2017&model=MDX&modelName=MDX. IF you want to be the first to explore, I recommend you follow the 2016 instruction for the Sport boards (also called Rear Step Boards) to remove the rocker panel from here: https://estore.honda.com/acura/accessories/installation-instructions/list.asp?year=2016&model=MDX&modelName=MDX

If you see a hole the accommodate the stud/bolt in line with the threaded bolt holes underneath, I think you could reasonably assume they might. Another idea is to PM CDNPlatTech and ask him if he can check for you if he gets a chance one day. He's the one who put on the 2017 rockers onto a 2016.

Thanks for the info. I may go ahead and be the guinea pig with this one. I like the 14-16 sport boards, but I really like the 17 Advanced ones much better.
