On or about Jan 2, 2015, I purchased Acura MDX 2015 (SH-AWD with TechnologyPackage) . And starting from Feburuary when the vehicle was around 1,800 miles, the car started to have issues.

First incidenct was when we were on our ski trip to Tahoe, CA. We were driving the car and all of sudden all the car warnings including Check engine, FCW, and couple other warning came on at the same time. The car was clunky and we could
not drive the car anymore so we had to call the roadside assistant to take it
to Acura service center.
They reset the computer and the issue was not re-produced.

I still decided to use this car because I thought Acura was very reliable
auto maker. And that was the reason I bought the car. Since then every 3 weeks or so, computer/sensor issues came up constantly- temperature going up or down +/- 15 degrees in 3 seconds, heated seat not working, audio wouldn't turn on/off, no Phone UI showing up on the screen when it is supposed to, screen simply not being responsive, and also fuel cap loose warning. I took the car to another service center couple times, but they could not fix it ( would not even take my car in) since the issue could not be re-produced. And finally about 10 days ago, the car would NOT even start! So it was towed to the service center. They are tryig to fix the car now.

Below are some of those issues recorded on my phone. I am losing my patience!

I am planning to ask my money back. Any thoughts?

If you plan on lemoning it, it has to go through fixes FOR THE SAME PROBLEM at least 3 times within a year and if it still isn't repaired, then you can lemon it. That being said, they will likely offer you the used price for the 2015, which at least is quite high still!

That being said, you have an inordinate amount of electrical issues that would make me reconsider owning the vehicle as well. Even if they can trace the problem, I would not doubt that there is something just inherently defective with your main electrical harness. Do you have any pest issues where you store your vehicle? Sometimes harnesses are chewed through by rats and such.

Speak to the service manager, have them contact Acura's District Parts Service Manager and start from there.

For what it's worth, I traded in my 2007 TL for a 2015 VW Passat Diesel back in December. The car developed two major problems in 3 months, diesel exhaust fluid leak and engine oil leak. With the exhaust leak, car was out of service for 2 weeks. With the engine oil leak, it was so bad that a new engine would be needed. My VW dealer worked with VW HQ to get me a brand new car under Nevada Lemon Law. VW went the extra mile on their own to keep me as a customer, wound up with a new Passat, and they threw in extras like a spoiler, all weather mats, etc., another $1,000 of extra stuff.

I have never heard of Acura doing what VW did, but you should talk to your dealer's service manager and ask them to work with Acura to get you a new car. Worth a try, but if they don't want to work with you, and the car still isn't fixed to your satisfaction, find a good attorney specializing in lemon laws in your state.

Not specific to the 2015, but you clearly have a major electrical connection issue somewhere, that is an intermittent power feed to something. The flickering is characteristic of a loose, or broken connection where arching is occurring. While the harnesses are daunting in size these days, that one should be easy to find. I would make Acura change the main relays and the main wiring harnesses, since they won't do component repair anyway, and then change ALL of the computers, and the Instrument cluster, because those component will have been damaged by the faulty voltages.

Wow you diagnosed it all just by watching some videos? I'm impressed.

So all relays, harnesses, and control modules? Sure you don't want to hit anything else with the big shotgun? Engine short block perhaps... [/massive sarcasm]

https://youtu.be/k2zS_KTDjqE - just wow!

it's as if the ECU needs a complete reinstall, just like with Windows OS; you do a reinstall if you have some sort of malware on it, or need to remove a bad driver that's causing OS stability issues. just weird behavior all around.

Sorry to see the problems on your car. But, fortunately, they are all covered and HAVE to be fixed by the dealership. If not, lemon law can take place.

Either way, please keep us posted on your progress.
