I purchased hood struts to replace my malfunctioning hood struts. The new ones are so tight. I can’t move it manually. Do you think once I install these, they might work due to the weight of the hood?
Thanks

I replaced my hood struts on my 11 MDX back in Sept/2020 with QiMox from Amazon, $25. I didn't mess with them before installing. They are stiffer or springy-ier than OEM and really hold the hood open. They might just need the weight of the hood to have the right feel to them.

That's fine. What I'd do is install one and see how the lifting action goes. If the hood pops up gingerly (yes, I'm sticking to this word), just leave the second strut as a backup to replace the other one when the first one has subsided its strength).

That's what I've been doing to my hood struts, works fine.

Yup. That means they’re good. ;-) I’ve replaced a bunch of them between my BMW and Pilot. Get the Stabilus ones from Rock Auto or whoever. Way cheaper than buying from the dealer and most OEM ones I have seen are Stabilus brand anyway.

I replaced mine today with this exact set. Install was simple and took about 5 minutes total. Hood stays up well. One of the original ones was completely shot and the other was worn out. Need to kind of ease the hood up now so that it doesn't thump at the top. Happy with these for $25 for the pair.
