Hi all,

So my sister had gotten the alternator replaced by the dealership half a year ago, charged her $1400 for it.

Fast forward to today, just got the car in my ownership a week ago, and it cranks but can't hold above 1k rpm before stalling this morning.

So assuming the recently replaced alternator is not the root cause; I checked all the fuses and replaced the ones that were blown (2), cleaned connection for the battery wires, removed the HFL module and replaced the battery...

Aaand it's still not starting, so what should my next steps be? Replace the alternator (denso, I read a bit about the one to choose) myself? Or could something else also be the culprit?

What do you mean by 'it cannot hold above 1k rpm'? Did the car start at all? Or, it started but stalled shortly after?

The two symptoms you described may or may not be related. I think you want to focus on no start first.

The easiest thing to try, is to put it in neutral and try to start. If it starts, it's your neutral start switch, aka transmission range switch. Hope you are lucky

It started. So the problem is it quickly stalled. That makes your life much easier. Get 5 gallons of gas in first!

Then you go thru the logical steps. Air fuel spark.
